The role

The Operational Risk department is looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to support the senior manager in implementing DLA Piper’s strategy to ensure a safe working environment and drive workplace sustainability across the firm.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious health and safety professional, wishing to broaden their operational experience and apply their knowledge in the international context. The Operational Risk department is currently supporting 57 international offices. In the UK, all offices are certified to ISO 45001 and we plan to extend this certification to our key international offices. In addition to supporting the certification roll-out, the Health and Safety Specialist will also have ample opportunities to get involved in other Operational Risk projects. 

The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting people and skilled in conducting risk assessments, delivering training, providing recommendations for improvements, and ensuring compliance.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and build key relationships with facilities managers across our international offices
  • Support the investigation of workplace incidents, ensuing tracking and reports are in place
  • Monitor implementation of recommendations to prevent recurrence of incidents
  • Monitor and report changes in international legal requirements and stakeholder expectations
  • Support with workplace inspections and audits ensuing maintenance of records and actions close-out
  • Organise and deliver training programmes
  • Provide SME support to Operational Risk projects as and when they arise

ABOUT YOU

  • Relevant degree and/or equivalent practical experience (5-10 years)
  • Professional memberships are a plus
  • Skilled in assessing risks and analysing trends/issues
  • Detail-oriented and able to develop effective solutions to challenges and incidents
  • Good communicator, able to effectively convey information and deliver training
  • Driven to work collaboratively at all levels and promote good practice
  • Good at time management, able to handle multiple tasks and prioritise responsibilities
  • Good understanding of relevant certification standards
  • Experience in Environment, Energy and Quality management will be seen as added benefit
