Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Pricing & Commercial Manager to join our Finance team in the London office.  This role will drive change across pricing & commercial practices to improve profitability across the firm. You will alongside Partners and Clients to agree competitive and compelling financial offerings that support our commercial strategy and will leverage leadership and expertise in order to shape commercial best practice with stakeholders across the firm.  In addition you will act as the finance lead on key cross department commercial projects, a business advisor across the partnership and wider business, and as an ambassador for the firm in external client interactions.

Role and responsibilities

  • Identify, lead and implement commercial projects to drive improved profitability or optimise processes; stakeholders will typically be partners or senior finance management 
  • Manage, inspire and lead others to achieve strong outcomes; via formal and informal reporting structures
  • Adopt big picture approach to cross-functional projects. Consider firm-wide impacts of new initiatives and assess any risks or opportunities of any inter-dependencies with concurrent projects
  • Ability to understand wider business issues and to develop new ideas which will add value, based on a full understanding of the firm's critical success factors
  • Influence and inform pricing strategy to optimise the firm’s long and short term profitability, being sought out as a subject matter expert in pricing and commercial terms demonstrating an innovative approach
  • Adopt spirit of continual improvement to our existing processes and pricing models; seek opportunities to enhance the status quo and leverage relationships to garner feedback on the same
  • Advise Partners on client pricing strategies; including value add options in addition to rates.  Be able to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders on client agreements
  • Establish good working relationships with external clients; engage with credibility and professionalism. Support partner negotiations through insightful and persuasive analysis and commentary
  • Pro-actively champion pricing best practice, both within the immediate team and around the network. Work closely with colleagues to increase advocacy and consistency; highlight weaknesses and rectify challenges where they arise
  • Identify areas for systems and operational improvement within the team - implement and measure
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic plan for the Team, determining priority projects with respect to business/client demands and wider Finance initiatives
  • Design and deliver financial presentations, seminars and training across the FE community and others

Key requirements

  • Ability to influence at the highest level as a credible, fast-thinking, collaborative and commercial individual
  • Outstanding analytical skills & knowledge of economic factors impacting professional services
  • Capable manager of people and tasks, through both formal and informal reporting lines
  • Excellent communicator; able to explain complex issues to financial or non-financial stakeholders
  • Comfortable in a world of ambiguous decision making and consultation, with influencing skills and confidence to advise being critical success factors
  • Outstanding interpersonal and management skills including, coaching, development and mentoring
  • Demonstrate a hands-on approach and success in working in a team based environment
  • Able to adjust style to individual circumstances and demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence
  • Results driven; having a proactive, goal orientated approach to decision making
  • Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and targets
  • Strong IT system skills

Qualifications and work experience

  • Qualified Accountant an advantage
  • Significant experience as a pricing professional (B2B essential / Professional Services preferred)
  • Significant experience in a ‘self-starting’ commercial role; proven record of identifying and optimising value-add opportunities
