Why Michelmores? We are a flexible, friendly, and inclusive organisation with a clear focus on fresh thinking, growth and success. We really care about what we stand for, and central to our culture is our nurturing, friendly and flexible environment which genuinely allows our people to grow and flourish, both professionally and personally.

What sort of work? We have an exciting opportunity for a Recruitment Specialist to join our HR team, based in either our Bristol or Exeter offices.

In this role, you will provide a vital role in the development and delivery of a high-quality recruitment service to the business. Key focus areas for delivery will include:

  • Taking responsibility for a smooth, efficient and inclusive end-to-end recruitment process for all business support and paralegal roles across the business.
  • Managing the whole recruitment cycle for support lateral hires in these areas, ensuring the right tools are in place so that sound selection decisions are made for each role.
  • Developing new sourcing strategies for talent pipelines, candidate pools and nurturing talent in line with workforce planning, with a real focus on direct-sourcing methods including LinkedIn and our internal referral scheme.
  • Building trusted relationships with key stakeholders across your teams and within the different locations, to establish yourself as a credible, respected, valued and trusted advisor.
  • Working with teams to ensure a consistent and fair recruitment process exists across all roles, to include the design and development of interview questions and assessments and attending interviews where necessary.
  • Taking a proactive approach in creating and implementing an inclusive recruitment process that allows every individual to perform at their best and ensures the best possible candidate experience.
  • Where necessary, working with selected recruitment agencies to appoint candidates, ensuring the Michelmores brand and EVP is positioned appropriately in the market.
  • Ongoing maintenance and development of the ATS, working with our supplier to further develop the system capabilities.
  • Working alongside the wider HR team to ensure a first class onboarding and induction experience for every candidate.
  • Partnering with our Early Careers team to develop our approach to apprenticeships across the firm.
  • Taking a commercial and pragmatic approach to the advice and support provided to ensure it delivers positive outcomes for the firm now, and in the future. Leading on strategic and operational HR projects as required.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members.

Why this team? The HR team works in partnership with the key stakeholders across the firm, building trusted relationships and advising on a wide variety of people matters.

We are focused on getting the best out of our greatest asset – our people. That means helping to create a culture where we reward those who think commercially, where our people feel valued as individuals and are constantly growing and developing. We are always looking to improve the employee experience and create and keep a culture where people feel supported to become the very best versions of themselves.

How do we work? We take a flexible, agile approach to working patterns. As a team we agree together on the best working arrangements that will enable each of us to provide exceptional client service, to collaborate and connect with colleagues, and to achieve the right home/work balance.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and thrive in our culture. This is a hybrid working role, but will based from either our Exeter or Bristol office, with regular travel between our other offices as required.

Ideally you will have experience of providing a high-quality recruitment service within the legal sector (either in-house or agency). However, previous experience of working in a professional services environment would also be considered. In addition to this:

  • Successful track record of inhouse or agency recruitment, within the legal or professional services sectors.
  • Previous experience of building and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment or partnership model desirable.
  • A track record of recruiting across support roles from entry level through to experienced hires.
  • Experience in direct sourcing of talent (using LinkedIn and other sourcing tools) to attract candidates and build talent pipelines desirable.

Other skills required include:

  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and use of discretion.
  • Possess the ability to cope well under pressure.
  • Flexible, successfully adapting to changing demands and priorities.
  • Self-confidence, initiative, and an innovative thinker.
