Our dynamic, friendly and high ranked corporate department offers our clients access to a full range of corporate legal services, including private company mergers and acquisitions, private equity, investments, re-organisations, joint ventures, capital restructuring, equity capital markets, fundraisings and corporate governance.

Our Corporate department advises our clients across a variety of sectors in respect of private company M&A (including acquisitions and disposals by trade buyers, family offices and private equity funds).

The Corporate department is fully supported by specialists in our other departments, including banking, tax, employment, property, construction and intellectual property. 

As a result of growth, the team is seeking to appoint a Associate, 1-5 PQE (or equivalent) to be based in Reading.

What you'll be doing

  • Advising on private company acquisitions and disposals – including both share and business/asset deals;
  • Advising on private equity transactions – including investment agreements acting for both private equity funds and management;
  • Advising on private company reorganisations
  • Setting up corporate structures, and preparing shareholders agreements/investment agreements;
  • Advising on joint ventures for both private companies and LLPs;
  • Advising on general corporate matters including share buy-backs, distributions and corporate governance;
  • Advising on ad hoc day-to-day corporate queries from our clients;
  • Initiating, building and maintaining effective client relationships;
  • Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures; and
  • Pro-active participation in department and firm-wide marketing initiatives.

What you'll need

The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at the Associate (or equivalent) grade.  In particular for this role we require:

  • Qualified associate (or equivalent) with Corporate experience of between 1 – 5 years (including Private Equity experience).
  • Drive, enthusiasm and vision

  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach
  • Proven ability to take on responsibility and manage files, independently where appropriate;
