If you are keen to find an exciting new role where you will be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking, agile team, come and join us on our journey.

Why Michelmores? Michelmores is the destination law firm for the ambitious, the imaginative and the distinctive. We help enterprises and individuals navigate change to find a positive future.

We are a flexible, friendly and inclusive organisation with as clear a focus on fresh thinking as we have on growth and success. We value and nurture our people’s potential and inspiration and give them a creative, open and collaborative environment in which to develop a career and succeed.

We believe that whatever your legal experience, you’ll find Michelmores different. From day one we encourage our people to forge relationships and expand their understanding and knowledge of areas that interest them – developing an understanding of commercial challenges and opportunities, rather than just knowing the law. We nurture creative and commercial thinking to help in your long-term career success – it mirrors our approach to ensuring the very best outcomes for our clients too.

What sort of work? Right now, our highly regarded Immigration team is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious lawyer to join the team as an experienced Associate or Senior Associate and to take an active role in growing the practice, working from our London office.

Why this team? The Immigration team has a great depth of experience, operating as one team across our offices. They provide specialist guidance to businesses, high net worth clients and individuals alike. Working hard to understand their clients' immediate needs and future plans to identify the best immigration options for them.

The team assists businesses to set up and manage sponsor licences to give them access to an international pool of talent. Preparing and submitting worker and temporary worker visa applications and acting as Level 1 Users is all part of the day-to-day operation of the team. In addition, the team prides themselves on providing commercially focused immigration advice and support on mergers and acquisitions, astute support with sponsor licence compliance and licence downgrades, suspensions and revocations.

Our immigration lawyers also relish the frequent opportunities to work with individuals and their families on visit visas, innovator founder visas, global talent visas, dependent visas, settlement visas and British nationality applications. The more complex the application or the clients' needs, the better. They understand the need for up-to-date, concise and timely guidance. They never shy away from a challenge and are best known for providing quick, technically brilliant, savvy and plain-speaking advice.

Philip Barth, Head of the Immigration team was named as a Top Recommended Lawyer for Immigration in the Spears 500 list 2023 and has been ranked in Band 1 of Chambers HNW for eight years.

How do we work? We take a flexible, agile approach to working patterns. As a team we agree together on the best working arrangements that will enable each of us to provide exceptional client service, to collaborate and connect with colleagues, and to achieve the right home/work balance. Most people in the team choose to work 2-3 days a week in the office, with the balance being working from home. We pride ourselves on our high-performance culture whilst offering a good work/life balance.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for somebody who understands our values and can thrive in our culture.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years of post-qualified UK law firm experience in Corporate Immigration and experience of working with high-net worth individuals;
  • First-class technical skills.
  • Experience in collaborating cross-team to maximise business opportunities and provide a full-service to clients;
  • A passion for business development and keen to be client-facing and attend external events to promote the service offering;
  • A proven track record of attracting new clients and being committed to developing the practice;

Other skills required include:

  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal);
