The role
The Central Tax Team are responsible for providing strategic tax advice, implementing tax policies, managing tax risk and ensuring / monitoring adherence to tax compliance obligations across the International network. The Transfer Pricing team sit within the Central Tax Team.
The Senior Tax Assistant, Transfer Pricing will be an integral member of the Transfer Pricing team working alongside or individually with other team members. There have been a number of developments within Transfer Pricing globally, and it is expected that the scope and nature of work will grow and provide new areas of learning and scope for the Senior Tax Assistant to develop and take responsibility for areas of work.
The main area of focus will be on compliance and involvement with the operational aspects of transfer pricing.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific duties will include:
Knowledge Management and Compliance:
- Maintain and develop a comprehensive database of various transfer pricing requirements in overseas territories, to respond in a timely manner to any changes.
- Assist in ensuring transfer pricing compliance.
- Monitor transfer pricing changes and assist in providing updates to the business.
Transfer Pricing Documentation:
- Maintain and update transfer pricing documentation, which will include understanding local filing requirements and collating/understanding financial information included within transfer pricing files.
- Assist with documenting all inter-office transactions in accordance with transfer pricing requirements.
Country by Country and EU Public Country by Country Reporting:
- Assist with the country by country report for submission to HMRC including reviewing and compiling data for inclusion in the reports.
- Assist with the EU Public country by country report.
- Ensure local country by country notification reporting obligations are met.
- Intergroup recharge calculations and invoicing:
- Preparation of calculations for Network Co-ordination Charges (“NCC’s”) or other recharges on a regular basis (expected to be 4 times annually) for services provided across the International network in accordance with transfer pricing requirements.
- Involvement with communication and invoicing of NCC’s and responding to any queries.
- Liaise with overseas controllers in respect of accounting locally for transfer pricing recharges/issues as necessary.
Year End:
- Review assigned tax schedules in consolidation packs prepared by overseas controllers as required for transfer pricing compliance. This will mainly relate to Country by Country and potentially GLOBE related disclosures.
- Work as part of the team on year end NCC (or other recharge) calculations including reviewing accounting data, calculating transfer pricing allocation keys and providing explanations for year-on-year variances. This will include pre year end involvement to ensure key data is available.
- Assist with updating year end process notes and other support documentation.
- Assist with year-end invoicing and reconciliation of balances.
- Involvement with providing explanatory notes to accompany any year end invoicing and discussions with Finance and Budget Holders.
- Assist with preparation of country specific reports to supports charges and any other documentational requirements.
- Assist with supplying information for the purposes of any agreed upon procedures or similar reviews.
Budgeting:
- Assist with any budgeting of NCC’s or other recharges, which may include review of expenditure to ensure compliance with OECD Guidelines.
- Assist with estimating GLOBE related tax liabilities.
GLOBE reporting:
- Assist with obtaining and collating information for any future GLOBE reporting requirements.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining any database used for GLOBE reporting.
- Review and collation of information for GLOBE reporting as may be needed.
Ad-Hoc Work:
- Assistance with project work, including non transfer pricing related.
- Assist with any invoicing and reporting requirements.
- Attending meetings and joining calls as and when required and preparing minutes of such meetings and calls.
- Involvement with digitalisation of transfer pricing work.
- Provide cover and support when the Tax Accountants are unavailable.
ABOUT YOU
The Senior Tax Assistant, Transfer Pricing will:
- Experience of working in tax (with an understanding of transfer pricing principles).
- Able to apply that existing knowledge and experience to new situations / scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with the ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade.
- Flexible and collaborative personal working style.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels within the organisation.
- Multi-tasking skills, including working to conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment.
- Able to balance a high volume of work and deliver consistently high-quality work under pressure.
- Organised, logical, analytical, practical, and proactive.
- Self-starter, able to work on their own initiative as well as being part of a team and have a strong client service orientation.
- Strong in Microsoft Office software.
- Familiarity with using accounting systems (SAP, Concur).
- Knowledge of Alteryx preferrable but not essential.
- Option to commence/continue training towards an appropriate professional qualification may be provided.
