Our Legal Technology team is part of the firm’s Service Delivery group, and is responsible for sourcing, introducing and driving use of legal technology across all practice group areas in our international business. Our team’s focus is on quickly evolving legal tech tools, including collaboration and transaction management platforms, tools for document drafting, reviewing and signing, as well as expert logic systems.
To have maximum impact, you will work play a key role in developing and delivering an industry-leading document automation service aimed at enabling the firm’s 4,000+ lawyers to provide the most valuable service to our clients, whilst delivering quality and consistency across their work, and improving their working lives in the process.
With an initial primary focus on document automation, the role offers progression into the wider work of the team, across the full range of legal technology tools that the team manages.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You will work closely with the team’s Legal Technology Manager responsible for our DocAuto tool and service to develop and deliver the firm’s approach to document automation.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on the firm’s DocAuto tool and service (using Contract Express) in order to support and manage its practical deployment and adoption across all of the firm’s practice groups and international locations, and advise colleagues and clients on its most effective use.
- Creating, maintaining and updating automated products and solutions using primarily Contract Express, and HighQ (or similar tools)
- Maintaining an expert technical understanding of the capability of the tool itself, keeping up to date with functionality updates as they evolve, and exploring different and novel ways of implementing them in order to solve new challenges
- Conduct QA testing of automated documents, correcting errors and recording changes
- Supporting the management of the team’s pipeline of work, including identifying opportunities where automation technologies can assist with supporting internal and external clients
- Providing support, including trouble shooting, managing user access, setting up security etc
- Identify opportunities for system and process enhancements enabling the business to provide innovative solutions
- Effectively managing stakeholder relationships and proactively seeking new projects to add to the pipeline
- Leading on requirements gathering calls with document owners/key personnel to ensure smooth running of automation projects (ie train lawyers on marking up a document for automation)
- Ensuring good relationships with contacts at software providers and clients
- Developing and delivering training sessions to facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge to colleagues
- Working with colleagues in the Legal Technology team to explore and develop opportunities to integrate document automation technology into wider technology-based solutions
- Re-engage with teams using automated solutions 3-6 months post implementation to gauge usage against ROI calculations, and support further iterations/developments
- Monitoring the technical operation of the service, providing assistance to operational IT in the event of any troubleshooting
- Contribute to improve processes and regular update of training materials
- Manage project delivery from requirements gathering to launch and beyond
- Working closely with the Legal Technology Manager to oversee document automation projects and reporting.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrable technical proficiency in using Contract Express is desired but not essential, full training will be provided
- Contract Express certification (Intermediate or Advanced) is a plus
- Experience delivering technology-based solutions in the legal sector
- Interest in gaining experience in the application of a range of legal technology tools, beyond document automation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starting, with an ability to effectively and flexibly prioritise and manage a varied personal workload
- Able to build trust and rapport to develop effective working relationships, internally and externally
- Highly organised and able to co-ordinate, supervise and deliver projects.
