White & Case is an elite global law firm serving leading companies, financial institutions and governments worldwide. Our long history as an international firm means we are perfectly placed to help our clients resolve their most complex legal challenges wherever they may be.
With lawyers operating from more than 40 locations, working in virtually every country of the world, we have invested heavily in building a high-quality full-service practice competing at the top of the market. We are distinguished by our on-the-ground presence in the world’s key financial markets and our strengths in handling complex cross-border work.
It’s not just about our global network of offices; it’s the global interconnectedness of the Firm that our people, and our clients, value most. We work well together across geographic and practice boundaries. It’s one of the reasons we attract and retain cross-border work. And why we attract a diverse group of people.
Our lawyers are globally minded, enterprising, collaborative and committed to excellence. Diversity is a core value of our Firm and it has been recognized with numerous awards and top rankings around the world. Our people represent 90 nationalities and speak 80 languages.
Our Practice Area
The Global Tax Group supports clients by bringing insight to the business and legal intricacies of the full spectrum of international tax matters. The Group is widely recognized for its forward-thinking approach, having handled numerous precedent-setting global firsts.
Associates in our London tax team cover a range of varied and fast-paced mandates, handling a wide range of cross-border transactional and advisory matters for private equity houses, financial institutions, multinational companies and sovereign wealth funds. From the moment you join, you will be given significant responsibility, and will work closely with partners and clients alike.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Tax associate with an interest or focus on investment funds to join our London office.
Accordingly, we are looking for an associate who has strong experience in the taxation of private investment funds. Whilst there is a preference for a bias towards limited partner work, we would be interested in candidates with a majority of general partner experience. Further, we would also be interested in candidates who wish to retain a wider exposure to non-funds work (for example, private equity or M&A transactional work).
Excited by the challenge of developing and implementing complex tax structures, you should combine an eye for detail with the creativity and confidence to devise innovative solutions. Given the rapid pace of our practice, you will need to be highly organized—comfortable meeting tight deadlines, managing multiple workstreams, and producing flawless tax analyses in a timely fashion.
Both oral and written communication skills will be major assets—enabling you to convey complex information to colleagues and clients in a way that is clear and succinct. A team player with a global mindset, you should be excited by the opportunity to work alongside lawyers across the firm’s international offices and practices.
Self-motivated, you will need to display a willingness to take ownership of projects, and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset that allows you to anticipate clients’ needs and independently develop tax-efficient solutions that fit their businesses.
