Job Details
We appreciate that everyone has diverse career aspirations and that's what sets us apart.
One of the ways in which we are responding to the dynamic nature of the legal sector is with our panel of In-House Lawyers, GCSolutions. We've identified secondment opportunities across a number of exceptional clients and a variety of different sectors. Our GCSolutions team are currently all working on these opportunities for short and long-term secondments and more project led initiatives. This has been a highly successful initiative and we're now looking to grow this team with commercial lawyers looking to progress down an exciting, alternative career path.
Unlike some other flexible lawyer resourcing business models, we give you the decision to work with us on a fixed-term employment basis or as a consultant. We offer a mix of remote and hybrid opportunities, are open to part-time or full-time lawyers and help to support your work-life balance. Of course, we can't forget to mention, all without the pressure of fee targets and the billable hour. You'll be an advocate for WBD and help us to further develop opportunities for growth in our business.
By working with us on an fixed-term employment basis, we'll remove some of the risk for you by offering a series of employed contracts within our business and a salary. You'll be fully integrated into WBD so this not only means you have access to our rewards and benefits but also our development programmes and support from our wider commercial team.
If you're looking to work with us on a consultancy or contractor basis, you'll be on a competitive day rate, without the ties. You'll be working with us on a non-exclusive agreement with a say in which types of high quality secondments you'd like to take on.
What are we looking for?
We are particularly keen to hear from lawyers with banking, insurance and general finance expertise, along with people who have worked in the energy, infrastructure and construction industries and those with company secretarial and public sector experience.
You'll have had exposure to quality commercial work and can add value though providing quality advice and sector insight. You may currently work within an in-house legal team or perhaps for a large, regional or city firm with some secondment experience. What's important to us is that you have a thorough understanding of the risk and financial reporting obligations that comes with working in-house. You'll be directly advising the business you're seconded to, reporting to GCs and senior management alike, so your ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships is important to the team's success.
What makes it great to work here?
We continually work hard to create an open culture that sets us apart from other firms. Our culture gives us much more of a human feel, emphasising that we're more than just suits!
As signatories to the Mindful Business Charter, it's important to us that our people are able to maintain healthy and happy lives, both in and out of work. We have a number of resources and initiatives designed to support health and wellbeing and we're very happy to talk flexible working, full-time or part-time working patterns.
Through our DEI initiatives we create an environment in which difference is valued. We have an Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Group, led by our Board Sponsor, which works with our colleague networks (we currently have firm supported networks for race, ethnicity, and cultural heritage, LGBTQ+, disabilities, families, and women's career development and we're in constant dialogue with our people about how we expand our networks to better support everybody). Find out more about ED&I at WBD here. We encourage applicants from all social backgrounds, ethnicities, disabilities, gender identities and sexual orientations.
We are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible to all. If you have a disability or long term condition and need us to make any adjustments to give you the best possible recruitment process, please let us know by contacting the recruiter on the right hand side of this page.
We are an in-house recruitment team and will always aim to fill our roles directly in the first instance. If you're an agency, please click here for ways that you can work with us.
