Job Details
There's no more exciting time to be thinking about joining Womble Bond Dickinson than now. The dynamic nature of the legal sector is just one challenge that we need to respond to as a business to ensure that our clients get the best possible service from us and our business continues to be sustainable. One of the ways in which we're responding to the market is through continued investment in our Legal Solutions Centre, part of WBD Advance; a team of solicitors, chartered legal executives, paralegals, management information specialists and legal project managers, capable of providing support to the wider business on a regular and ongoing basis, for high volume projects or secondment opportunities, and providing some services directly to clients.
We've a team of highly motivated and high performing paralegals, but to ensure they continue to deliver we've put in place a team of qualified lawyers to provide technical supervision and training to the various paralegal teams. Having already recruited into a number of areas, we're now looking to strengthen the team with an additional Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer. Our remote-working model is working really well for us and therefore this role can based anywhere in the Southwest reaching as far as Bristol and Southampton. As most of the team are based in Plymouth, we'll need you to be able to come into this office for team catch ups once or twice a month.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for an litigation lawyer, technically strong, with previous experience in managing or supervising people, ideally paralegals, but certainly with a passion for developing talent. You'll be part of a team responsible for providing technical supervision and development to our paralegals, but will also work with the wider litigation team, managing your own caseload of complex, contentious matters. We work on a variety of matters across the dispute resolution group so you could have a background within commercial litigation, property disputes, insurance or any number of litigation specialisms. You will lead the team of c.25 people in WBD Advance dealing with commercial disputes and consumer claims, providing technical direction to the paralegals and six other lawyers in the team. You'll work closely with the Director of WBD Advance and other senior WBD Advance colleagues to continue to build a credible and high performing team of paralegals, with the flexibility to respond to the changing needs of our clients, our business and our profession, driving growth in the team and, as a consequence, revenue for the business.
This is a unique opportunity for you to combine your technical expertise with your natural flair for people development in supportive and collegiate environment. But don't worry, your own personal development won't take a backseat. Our amazing Learning and Development team have created a fantastic development programme which will help support you in this role by enhancing your business and leadership capabilities.
