We are currently looking for a Lead Internal Auditor to join our Risk and Best Practice team. This is a full time, permanent role based in our Newcastle office.

About the team

As Lead/Internal Auditor you'll work within our wider Risk and Best Practice team. The team helps to ensure we meet our regulatory obligations, comply with our service standards and procedures and manage our risk.

What will you be doing?

The role will see you conducting internal audits to assess and provide assurance that the firm's risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively.

You'll be planning and organising your own work and projects, and leading on the planning, development and scoping of audit modules. You'll be reporting on your findings (verbal and written), making recommendations, and providing guidance on all things risk and regulatory. Interpersonal skills are key for this role as you will build and manage relationships with a variety of people across our firm at all levels.

You'll be conducting technical and complex audits, for example: a regulatory investigation and you'll need to act as a role model when dealing with problematic situations involving internal and external personnel.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following skills & experience:

  • Have the ability to influence, coach and persuade auditees, as regards to the achievement of high standards of regulatory compliance.
  • Possess high levels of attention to detail and effective analytical skills in order to absorb regulatory, audit and technical information and proactively identify risks/ opportunities to improve.
  • Robust conflict management/ resolution skills and demonstrates resilience - with an ability to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Has the ability to communicate in both written and oral format in a professional, clear and concise manner and is able to adapt style to meet the audience.

You will have a passion for audit, compliance and risk management and have the ability to work well in busy and high pressure situations.
