We are currently recruiting for a Senior BD Manager (Corporate Growth and Partnerships) to join our aosphere department on a permanent basis.

Department purpose

aosphere (www.aosphere.com) is a highly successful innovative provider of on-line subscription-based legal risk management products and was established by A&O in 2002. Products include compliance based services Rulefinder Shareholding Disclosure, Rulefinder Marketing Restrictions, Rulefinder e-Signature and Rulefinder Data Privacy, and a suite of derivatives based services.

aosphere’s client base has predominately been financial services institutions but with the launch of Rulefinder Data Privacy in 2020 now appeals to a wider corporate market. aosphere products are used by over 700 institutions worldwide.

aosphere consists of a dedicated legal team of experienced product lawyers, a dedicated Client Support and Monitoring team and Sales/Business Development function. Role purpose

This is a rare opportunity to join an established but dynamic and growing business offering premium online legal information to clients globally. In order to increase global revenues aosphere is seeking a full time Senior BD Manager to drive the strategy and growth of aosphere’s expansion into the corporate sector through both direct sales channels and indirect sales channels (including partnerships).

The successful candidate will have significant experience and a proven track record of delivering strategic revenue growth via direct and indirect sales channels in a professional services environment. The candidate must be able to engage credibly at the most senior levels both internally and externally. Flexible working opportunities available.

Key relationships

  • The candidate will drive and develop the strategy for growth in the corporate sector including growing direct sales revenues and grow/manage our partnerships with third party vendors who re-sell our products
  • You will report to the Executive Director of aosphere, and work closely with the wider aosphere Business Development team
  • You will work closely with aosphere product lawyers to develop ideas for and execute a range of sales and marketing activities
  • The candidate will also need to develop relationships with business development teams and other legal professionals in relevant A&O practice groups
  • Once established in the role the candidate may take line management responsibilities for more junior members of the team or new hires

Role and responsibilities

The job will include, but not be limited to:

  • Developing and taking ownership of the strategy for aosphere’s expansion into the corporate sector via direct sales channels including driving campaigns resulting in direct sales of our Rulefinder Data Privacy product
  • Onboarding new channel partnerships such as technology vendors and third parties who act as re-sellers of Rulefinder Data Privacy
  • Managing the ongoing relationships with channel partnerships including strategy for collaboration on marketing campaigns such as webinars and content marketing activities
  • Identifying new direct target sectors and clients and developing a strategy for engagement
  • Reporting on campaigns and identifying and measuring success against KPIs
  • Effectively qualifying leads and new opportunities from potential clients
  • Responding to incoming product enquiries
  • Identifying and delivering process improvements and efficiencies in our lead generation and sales processes
  • Leading client meetings and demonstrating the Rulefinder Data Privacy product
  • Handling commercial negotiations with clients on fees and engagement terms
  • Using and developing our Salesforce platform and LinkedIn profile
  • Suggesting improvements to sales and marketing collateral and working with the aosphere team to ensure best practice for sales and marketing communications
  • Acting as a senior champion and brand ambassador for aosphere externally in the market
  • Working with counterparts in the wider A&O and Advanced Delivery teams to explore business collaboration opportunities and cross selling

Key requirements

  • Established sales experience in a professional services environment with proven success in delivering sales results under own initiative
  • Experience of successfully onboarding and managing sales channels and partnerships
  • Experience in a sales role in a publishing, data or information based business selling to corporate clients and understand selling subscription services would be ideal
  • Aptitude for quickly acquiring a rigorous understanding of the various technical areas covered by the relevant aosphere products
  • Experience of using Salesforce or similar CRM would be an advantage
  • Drive to gain results, improve and succeed
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to generate new revenues via campaigns and prospecting
  • Understanding of legal requirements for marketing e.g. cold calling restrictions and other compliance requirements
  • Ability to quickly made a credible impact with the most senior clients
  • Excellent organisational and prioritising skills including a willingness to undertake a range of varied tasks with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to develop independently in the role and effectively communicate across the team in a collaborative way
  • The passion and commitment to deliver to the highest standard for our clients
  • People management experience in a professional sales environment would be an advantage
  • Creative thinking both in new ideas and way of creatively using existing channels and resources
  • Entrepreneurial outlook and passion for continually improving processes and client delivery to ensure we are at the forefront of providing a market leading client experience
