Job Details

Our national Real Estate team of over 150 lawyers in the UK has the breadth and depth of experience to assist our clients with their entire real estate cycle. The team services a range of needs and undertakes complex projects for corporate occupiers, developers, housebuilders, investors, fund and asset managers and lenders across all real estate sectors.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Real Estate Knowledge Team and work alongside professionals with in-depth experience and legal knowledge so that you can prepare for the next step in your legal career. This role can be based in Southampton, Bristol, Leeds or Newcastle.

What will you be doing?

Our Real Estate Knowledge Team, consisting of 2 professional support lawyers and two paralegals, is key to keeping the Real Estate team up-to-date with the latest legal developments and supporting the adoption of more efficient, digital ways of working so that we can deliver "more for less" for our clients.

The role will cover a variety of work from helping to manage the precedents collection, dealing with a wide-range of queries, delivering induction sessions for new joiners and assisting with the running of the extensive in-house training programme, to providing crucial administrative support. There will be a strong emphasis on promoting and using technology to enable more efficient working including DocuSign, HighQ and Avail. You may also be involved in cross-firm IT  projects. There's a lot to learn but you'll be well supported and given time to get up to speed with how everything works.

So what are we looking for?

You will have ideally already obtained a law degree or GDL and a LPC qualification. Previous experience of working in a commercial law firm would be helpful but is by no means essential. What's more important is that you are organised, attentive to detail and self-motivated with strong IT and people skills and lots of initiative. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in legal technology and its potential to improve existing ways of working. We're looking forward to bringing someone new into our busy team, ready to get involved in a high volume of varied work.

What makes it great to work here?

We continually work hard to create an open culture that sets us apart from other firms. Our culture gives us much more of a human feel, emphasising that we're more than just suits!  We like and make time for each other enabling us to establish professional relationships that can often become lasting friendships.

Through our D&I initiatives we create an environment in which difference is valued.  We have a Diversity and Inclusion Group, led by our Board Sponsor, which works with our colleague networks (we currently have firm supported networks for race, ethnicity, and cultural heritage, LGBTQ+, disabilities, families, and women's career development and we're in constant dialogue with our people about how we expand our networks to better support everybody).  We encourage applicants from all social backgrounds, ethnicities, disabilities, gender identities and sexual orientations. Please get in touch to let us know how we can give you the best possible recruitment experience.

As signatories to the Mindful Business Charter, it's important that our people are able to maintain healthy and happy lives, both in and out of work.  We have a number of resources and initiatives designed to support health and wellbeing, including our team of dedicated mental health first aiders.  We recognise that getting the right work life balance is a priority for all of us and we're very happy to talk flexible working, full-time or part-time working patterns.  We also recognise the challenges of relocation and post-pandemic return to the office.

And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can choose and vary the benefits that matter most to you.
