Job Description
EMPLOYMENT LAWYER – 5+ PQE– DUBLIN
Brief
We are currently looking to recruit a qualified Employment Lawyer 5+yrs PQE, to join the Global Employment and Reward Group in our Dublin office.
Background
Our Global Employment and Reward Group has over 100 employment lawyers across our offices. We have one of the best resourced teams of employment specialists, offering both national coverage from our Dublin and Belfast offices and an international offering through our employment specialists in our other European offices, the Gulf and Asia Pacific.
We act as trusted advisor to a number of leading FTSE blue chip organisations in multiple jurisdictions, including Ireland, the UK , Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, the Gulf and Asia Pac . Our clients rely upon us to help them not only with technical legal issues but also to act as true business partners, understanding the particular challenges and opportunities within their respective sectors and businesses.
We pride ourselves on being commercially aware, client focused, pragmatic and responsive. We provide our clients with innovative commercial solutions and diversity of thought, not merely details of the legal issues. Our approach has resulted in us developing long term relationships and partnerships with clients, many of whom are household name companies.
Our Dublin office advises on contentious and non-contentious matters for domestic and international clients. Our work regularly involves an international dynamic, working closely with colleagues in our international offices. For example, we regularly advise clients on cross border information and consultation, and global mobility. Our Dublin office also advises clients in relation to executive level employment law such as senior level recruitment and termination, executive compensation arrangements, bonus claims, and enforcement of restrictive covenants. We also assist clients with day-to-day employment queries, such as managing sickness absences, dealing with bullying allegations, restructuring, TUPE, corporate immigration and provide strategic advice to clients in relation to defending Workplace Relations Commission claims.
Key clients include:
- Livingbridge EP LLP
- Mohawk Industries Inc
- Synova Capital
- ENEA Software AB
- Athora Ireland plc
- Enva
Work highlights:
- Advised Livingbridge on the employment aspects of its acquisition of and investment in the Dublin-headquartered Welltel group.
- Advised Synova on the employment aspects of its acquisition of a financial services group.
- Advised Athora Ireland plc on the employment aspects of the sale of its variable annuity portfolio to Monument Life Insurance DAC.
The Candidate Required
The successful candidate will ideally be a 5+ PQE lawyer having trained in either a top tier Irish firm or international firm. The role will involve providing day-to-day legal advice to HR professional clients and their in-house legal teams. It will also involve litigation (Workplace Relations Commission and High Court) and work investigations (for example, supporting our white collar crime team with the HR aspects of regulatory investigations). In addition to the contentious practice we also have a thriving non-contentious practice and the successful candidate would also have the opportunity to help our clients deliver solutions within the M&A and outsourcing space. The successful candidate will also work closely with corporate colleagues on transactional matters and will be involved in all aspects of the team's workload.
The Global Employment & Reward Group are increasingly engaging with clients on strategic projects such as global change management exercises, reward philosophy projects and preparing for the implementation of gender pay gap legislation. The firm's diversity and inclusion consultancy business, Brook Graham, further enhances our offering to clients.
Candidates will have a strong academic background and an outgoing personality. Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will also be a team player with excellent communication skills and a desire to be actively involved in business development.
As well as having the experience mentioned above, the candidate should be:
- ambitious and enthusiastic about winning new clients;
- happy to work on creating marketing material, pitches, client meetings, know-how and being involved in business development – this is a growing team and accordingly we would like the candidate to take an active part in that;
- a team player who can work with different teams and lawyers across the firm; and
- keen to work in a growing international firm that is making headlines
The Opportunity
- The very best national and international work.
- Early responsibility and opportunities to develop client relationships.
- Genuine long-term career prospects supported through our "best in class" training and our Academy personal development programmes.
