Department/Role overview:
This role is crucial to providing an effective payroll service for the UK. The payroll is outsourced to a third party payroll provider and is responsible for the payment of approximately 1600 monthly paid employees over 3 UK payrolls and 1 Irish Payroll, on 24th of each month.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensuring each stage of the payroll process complies with due processes and procedures
- Establish and maintain relationship with the outsourced payroll provide ensuring high quality service to the firm.
- Lead development and enhancement of system and processes, collaborating with departments throughout the firm to provide an efficient and effective service to colleagues.
- To maintain reporting between Payroll and accounting systems ensuring financial integrity, providing regularly scheduled and bespoke adhoc reporting and to exercise financial control; monitoring, reconciling, and reporting to relevant bodies
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and legislations providing accurate and timely reporting
- To undertake all aspects of line management responsibilities for team members
- Provide advice and expertise on payroll and matters affecting payroll when required
Essential skills and experience:
- Payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent)
- Previous experience of managing a payroll including awareness of current legislation, best practises and a working knowledge of statutory requirements, PAYE, pensions and benefits
- Experience in payroll audit and process management
- Skilled in Microsoft Office - Excel comfort in v-look up, pivot tables, formulas etc.
- Experience of advising business and colleagues on payroll related matters in a professional manner and assisting in resolution of problems in all operational areas.
- Ability to prioritise workloads effectively, balancing conflicting deadline and achieving desired results within a fixed timescale.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational, analytical and time management skills.
- Articulate with good interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Excellent attention to detail
