COMMERCIAL LITIGATION NQ – BELFAST

Brief

Our Risk Advisory Services team is expanding, and we are now looking for a newly qualified lawyer to join our Commercial Litigation & Regulatory team in Belfast.

Background

Our litigation & regulatory team has a national and international market-leading reputation in corporate/company, contractual, commercial, trusts and regulatory disputes.  .  Our Belfast team act for household names and in cases at the forefront of legal changes.

The Team

Pinsent Masons Belfast LLP's 'fantastic' team is experienced in acting in breach of contract cases and product liability claims concerning the financial services, construction, energy and manufacturing sectors. Insolvency and employment litigation are two other areas of expertise. The team has acted before the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, and has additional strength in mediation, where the team is ‘at the forefront of this work, including handling wholly online mediations’. David Kirkpatrick, who has notable expertise in contractual, energy, and partnership and shareholder disputes, leads the team. Laura Gillespie is known for her experience in supporting clients in manging disputes, to include regulatory enforcement.  Laura is part of a specialised cyber response team.

  • Advised Dunnes Stores on a leasing dispute with its landlord, securing success in the Supreme Court.
  • Advised Frylite Limited in relation to proceedings for breach of contract against a former employee, who is alleged to have covertly run a competing business whilst employed.
  • Acting for F&B business in responding to a ransomware event, advising on notification requirements in the UK and Europe and co-ordinating investigation team.

The Candidate Required

We are now looking to appoint an ambitious newly qualified lawyer who wishes to advance their commercial litigation & regulatory abilities and knowledge at a top tier international law practice.

The successful applicant will:

  • ideally have gained experience in a large commercial firm and have completed a seat in Commercial Litigation
  • have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills
  • be a team player with the ability to forge strong working relationships with colleagues in an agile environment
  • be well-organised and have good project management skills
