It's the quality and commerciality of our service, our industry insight and the talent and passion of our people that engages our clients, and they love what we do.
Our Residential team is one of the largest of its kind and they have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join their Social Housing department based in our Newcastle office.
What will you be doing?
The team work on a broad range of matters, linked and related to the provision of affordable housing, concentrating on disposals under shared ownership, right to buy, right to acquire and assignments and transfers of existing properties for social housing clients.
You'll play a vital role in assisting with preparation of draft documentation and supporting the team with ad hoc tasks as and when these come in. The team will also support your development and training on operating surrender and regrant schemes for the elderly, preparing licences to assign, dealing with deeds of variation and rectification and purchasing properties for providers under appropriate statutory schemes. This is also a client facing role and so you'll deal with intermediate and final staircasing transactions and advise clients on the final staircasing of properties being disposed of by mortgagees in possession.
So what are we looking for?
Ideally you'll have some residential property experience and perhaps even a background working with registered providers. Candidates without experience working in the social housing sector will be considered provided they have an interest in working in the sector and developing their skills and knowledge. You'll also need strong academics, exceptional communication skills, drafting skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst under pressure. What's equally as important is to also have a natural ability to build strong relationships, both internally and externally.
