Purpose of role

The Early Careers Team encompasses apprentice, intern, and graduate recruitment and development.

The individual will work closely with the Early Careers team, which is comprised of two Early Careers Coordinators, the Early Careers Senior Development Advisor, and the Early Careers Manager.

While the focus of the role is the UK, internal advice and guidance are often given to international offices, in particular those in the Middle East.

Together the team provides support, guidance, tools, and frameworks, internally and externally, in order to attract, select and retain high-quality graduate and school leaver candidates. The team also follows best practice, legal, inclusive, and ethical resourcing principles. 

Responsibilities

Attraction

  • Deliver adverts and communication materials in line with the team's marketing and attraction strategy.  This includes collaboration with the design team and uploading materials to Dentons' systems, digital media platforms, and university, school & college websites.

  • Coordinate with the second Early Careers Recruitment and Development Coordinator to design, schedule, and coordinate posts for the early careers social media platforms

  • Plan, book, coordinate and attend events. This includes liaising with the relevant contacts, arranging attendees, and coordinating required materials

  • Coordinate the firm's Brand Ambassador program.

  • Alongside the Early Careers Manager, collaborate with internal diversity networks and external providers to coordinate programs and events related to inclusive outreach and recruitment

Selection

  • Arrange, coordinate and facilitate assessment centers across the UK – London, Milton Keynes, and Scotland.

  • Actively handle candidates through the applicant tracking system.

  • Effectively identify and supervise all applications that have declared a required adjustment to the process.

  • In conjunction with the Early Careers Recruitment Manager, arrange and co-ordinate Vacation Scheme internships.

  • Screen and interview applications for all programs.

  • Co-ordinate and conduct feedback sessions following interviews and assessment centres.

Offers and On-boarding

  • Extend verbal offers to suitable candidates 

  • Co-ordinate with the HR Services Centre (DBSE) regarding the offer and onboarding process

  • Co-ordinate the visa process for incoming trainees and apprentices

  • In conjunction with the Early Careers Manager, define and co-ordinate 'keep in touch strategy (takes place during the period between offer and start date)

Development

  • In conjunction with the Early Careers Senior Development Advisor and Talent Development team, assist with the annual apprentice and trainee induction programs.

  • Where required, and with the support of the Early Careers Senior Development Advisor, act as the first point of contact for queries from the apprentice cohort.

  • Working with the HR Services Centre (DBSE), coordinate the administration for client and international secondments.

  • Handle the trainee SRA/LSS registration and admission processes

  • Co-ordinate with the HR Services Centre (DBSE) regarding the Newly Qualified (NQ) offer process

Relationship Management

  • Actively work with relevant Dentons' employees and Partners to ensure that they are fully aware of the early careers recruitment & development strategy and their role in delivering that strategy

  • Partner with relevant Dentons' HR employees to ensure that the delivery of the strategy is streamlined and efficient

  • Forge productive, and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant publications, websites, careers advisors, students, student groups, and brand ambassadors

  • Work closely with the current trainees, apprentices, and associates to encourage them to move actively involved in the attraction and selection of early career talent.

  • Coordinate relationships with 3rd party partner organizations including law schools, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and Law Society of Scotland (LSS)

  • Work closely with and effectively coordinate the day-to-day relationships with the Dentons' HR Services Centre (DBSE) to ensure that they have the materials and tools required to coordinate their aspect of the process

Other

  • Act as a brand ambassador during internal and external events

  • Oversee work experience requests, and act as the first point of contact for students completing Dentons virtual work experience program.

  • Processing of maintenance grants and tuition fees

  • Alongside the second Early Careers Recruitment and Development Coordinator, handle candidate queries in the team's shared inbox.

  • Producing management information and dashboards 

  • Responsible for processing and data cleansing in line with GDPR, in conjunction with the HR Services Centre (DBSE) 

Required experience, skills and attributes

  • The ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK to attend in-house and external events

  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Interest in HR, marketing, and recruitment in a legal environment

  • Proficient user of the MS Office suite

  • Ability to handle a varied and complex workload in a professional environment

  • Ability to quickly build rapport with internal and external contacts at all levels

  • Good time management and organizational skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the aility to present to large groups

  • Great attention to detail, high levels of accuracy, and a commitment to high-quality standards

  • Interest in seeking ways to improve

  • Ability to work as part of a team and with limited supervision

The way we work

At Dentons the way we work is built on trust, empowerment and all round flexibility. With diversity at our core, our approaches to work are as varied as we are. We have worked with, and listened to, all of our employees and now have three recognized ways of working. These categories are as follows;

Office based - Office based workers are those who need to be in the office every day as their physical presence is intrinsically linked to their specific role, this applies to a small proportion of our workforce/teams.

Virtual workers – Our virtual workers have no need to attend an office and as such, are fully remote. We have successfully implemented this model across both our Legal Delivery Centre and ARC real estate teams. Members of these teams are provided with all necessary equipment and an allowance to create a workspace in their own home and won't be expected to come to an office. At the moment all virtual workers must be in the based in UK.

Hybrid workers – For the majority of our workforce we have implemented a hybrid model whereby there is no minimum (or maximum) number of days they must work from an office location. Instead we give them the freedom to decide with their team how efficiently and effectively they can deliver the best service to our clients, work with our colleagues and progress their own personal development whilst recognizing the need to adjust plans where circumstances require. Each hybrid worker is given an allowance to create a workspace in their own home.
