Job Details

With over 10 years' experience of operating in Scotland, our status as one of the leading law firms in Edinburgh is well established. We have invested all of our knowledge and resources during this time into supporting Scottish-based businesses and helping them to succeed and grow.

From our office in the heart of the city, the Edinburgh team has focused on delivering legal services to clients in our key sectors and, with particular successes within the financial servicesenergy and property sectors, we are confident that we will continue to support Scottish businesses for years to come.

Our national Corporate team continues to impress clients and industry experts alike.  We are keen to grow the national team and recruiting into Edinburgh ties in with our ambitious growth plans north of the border.

The 50-strong national corporate practice is handling some ground-breaking transactions within our sectors and supporting significant deals in the development of our clients' businesses. Clients tell us they love our ''excellent client service, responsiveness and clear understanding of what they need to achieve".  Just some of the standalone projects and ongoing partnerships our corporate lawyers have undertaken are listed below:

  • Advised Atom Bank on the successful raising of £200 million in equity investment and its strategic partnership with BBVA
  • Appointed to advise Cairngorm Capital on its investments in Polyframe and Stevenswood and numerous subsequent bolt-on acquisitions
  • Acted for Countrywide Farmers Plc on the disposal of its LPG distribution business to Flogas
  • Advised Molins PLC on the disposal of its tobacco instrumentation and machinery business to Italian competitor G.D S.p.A (a wholly owned subsidiary of Coesia S.p.A)
  • Represented Old Mutual Wealth on the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Intrinsic Financial Services Limited, the UK's largest network of restricted and independent financial advisers
  • Appointed to advise OpSec Security Group Plc on its £16 million "PIPE" investment by Investcorp Technology Partners and subsequent £67 million recommended offer from Investcorp funds
  • Advised Piper Private Equity on private equity investments, including in Loungers Café-bars, Turtle Bay Restaurants, Orlebar Brown, Hickory's Smokehouse, Forthglade Foods, Propercorn, Pet Food UK (Barking Heads), Flat Iron Steak Restaurants and Neom Organics
  • Advised RES, the global renewable energy company, on the sale of the Port of Tyne 35MW battery storage project.

The role

We are seeking to recruit an additional corporate lawyer into the team, ideally within the 3-6 years PQE bracket.  The successful candidate will join an experienced and talented team of multidisciplinary lawyers who pull together to offer the best and most complete client service. You can expect a varied workload, working on a range of quality deals for major names in sectors such as energy, insurance, financial services and private equity.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate some experience of good quality corporate work. We're keen to hear from those who trained and qualified at a city or large regional firm, but equally interested in hearing from candidates who have had good training and experience with a reputable firm but want to move to a larger firm.  The ability to demonstrate a proactive attitude to work, commercial pragmatism, and a strong team ethos will be equally as important however. The successful candidate will also be motivated to actively participate in business development activities to help develop the team's business and their own network.  In return this role offers a unique opportunity to join a motivated, collegiate team with a first class reputation with clients and colleagues alike.
