We are currently looking for an Inclusion, Diversity and Belonging Specialist on a perm basis. This role will be based in our Glasgow office with hybrid working.

Department/Role overview:

This role will support the Global Co-Heads of Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging to develop and embed the firm's Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging (IDB) programme across the global network, with a delivery focus on the EMEA and US regions.

Hours

Monday to Friday, 09.00 - 1730.

However, role may requires flexibility to attend some evening events and some travel may be required on occasion.

Main responsibilities:

Supporting IDB networks through:

  • Working with IDB networks and chairs to ensure meetings are organised, agendas are circulated, minutes taken and action points taken forward and in line with the firms strategic priorities.
  • developing and supporting IDB events both internally and with clients.
  • advising networks on IDB issues and areas of priority.

Communication:

  • Assisting with drafting for articles and internal updates as well as local newsletters
  • Liaising with the social media team and internal communications team to ensure coverage in social media and office publications & presentations, publicity for events, reviewing intranet and website content to ensure accuracy and relevancy.
  • Drafting communications for IDB events such as invite text and speaking notes.

Event Support

  • Supporting scheduling and delivery of successful IDB events, including promotion and driving attendance through relevant communication forums, liaising with Business Development and the events team as well as undertaking any follow up action after the event.

Submissions

  • Taking responsibility for IDB benchmark reporting as determined each year.
  • Providing guidance and support to the Business Development Team on the firm's IDB Action Plan and programmes to support relevant pitches and tenders.

Training

  • Assisting with preparation and updating of IDB training materials.
  • Liaising with Learning and Development in relation to content development and updates.
  • Delivering training workshops / events internally and to clients.

Data and key information

  • Collecting and analysing demographic data and preparation and presentation of demographic data analysis internally and to clients.
  •  Providing data driven research and industry benchmarking that will help Ashurst deliver an innovative approach to IDB and be the most progressive law firm.
  •  Work with People & Culture team to improve the completeness of diversity demographic data to help drive data driven approaches and decision making.
  •  Produce regular IDB reports focused on retention, attrition, work allocation and engagement and partner with People & Culture business partners to support interventions.
  •  Provide support to Business Development in completing client tenders and pitches in relation to our IDB action plan and progress.
  •  Liaising with the Business Development and Communication teams to ensure that they have up to date information about our IDB action plan, progress and programmes.

Programmes

  • Oversee smooth running of various mentoring programmes as needed
  • Manage logistics of the firm's reverse mentoring programme including communications, updating mentoring guides and collateral and profiling opportunities.
  • Oversee a number of the firm's established IDB programmes
  • Contribute to the development of new programmes required to deliver against our IDB action plan

Committed to Change (C2C)

  • Maintain activity log and membership base
  • Circulate IDB events and opportunities to C2C Community members to ensure they receive notice of opportunities to attend, lead and sponsor

Committed to Change Advisory Group/IDB networks

  • Co-Chair advisory group meetings
  • Working with IDB Advisors, network chairs and leads to ensure activities and initiatives are aligned with the IBD strategy and action plan;

Risk and Control

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the above for the both the EMEA and US regions

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated passion for IDB best practice
  • Track record in the delivery of change initiatives and process improvements and efficiencies in a customer focused environment.
  • Strong project management skills with sound decision making judgment which provide for and encourage solutions.
  • Solid IT skills, especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Excellent organisational abilities
  • Confidence to challenge processes
  • Excellent communication skills, able to speak and write with clarity and professionalism.
  • Acts as a role model to others, encouraging collaboration amongst team whilst also ensuring high standards are always maintained.
  • Proactive and always striving to achieve the best from own work as well as the work from the team.
  • Confident and able to achieve credibility with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Approachable at all times, including being able to negotiate or influence stakeholders.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Previous experience within an HR Advisory role, ideally within a global organisation
  • Previous experience gained within a Professional Services Firm
  • Knowledge of current IDB related legislation and issues either gained through practical experience or qualification
