Job Details

Our Banking and Finance practice acts for banks, non-traditional lenders, public sector bodies and borrower clients in relation to a wide range of financing transactions.

The team are now looking for a talented lawyer to join them in Southampton With a strong rating in Chambers, and an enviable FTSE 250 client list, this is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary banking practice with national and international reach.  

So what will you be doing?

Working as part of our national team, you will have opportunity to work with great clients, on high value and complex transactions and your workload will include international as well as domestic financings, re-financings and transactions. One day you might be part of the team advising a lender on an investment property financing transaction with a borrower group based in a multiple overseas jurisdictions and the next you could be advising a borrower on the financing aspects of an transatlantic acquisition or pension scheme trustees on investment management and custody arrangements.

On a day to day basis, you'll be working closely with Graham Jeffries, who is based in the Southampton office and acts for a range of lenders and borrowers both locally and nationally, as well heading up our asset finance practice. 

What does the ideal candidate look like?

You'll be a lawyer with 2-5 years' experience working in banking law, and have good general transactional experience as well as a developing expertise in a particular area of finance. You'll pride yourself on your ability to work collaboratively to achieve results. You'll have an analytical mind and enjoy the intellectual challenge that this work presents.  Your pragmatism and commercial outlook together with excellent drafting skills will be vital in supporting our clients.

You will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be looking for a role that allows you to further develop your knowledge, expertise and reputation.  You will be keen to take an active part in developing client relationships, building the regional and national business, and excited by the opportunity to align yourself to one of the team's specialist practice areas (corporate finance, real estate finance, asset finance and public finance) and/or one or more of our sector groups
