Job Details

From courtrooms to conference tables (and video calls - of course!) our Commercial Disputes team tackle our clients' most significant and complex cases, including those that threaten their very existence. Our clients rely on us because our lawyers' experience makes them formidable at every stage of a dispute and through every level of the courts.

We're looking for an experienced and innovative Cyber and Tech Litigation Lawyer to join our team. You'll be part of a team advising blue chip and FTSE organisation clients on technology disputes as well as cyber security, privacy and data protection issues. The successful candidate will have a real interest in technology and the ever increasing use and commercialisation of data.  They will demonstrate excellent understanding of recent and upcoming regulatory changes within data protection and will bring passion, innovation and commitment to the role.

What is the role?

Our particular expertise lies in providing clear, practical solutions to high value and complex disputes. We have developed dispute resolution specialisms including dispute avoidance, litigation, international arbitration, mediation and out of court settlements.

You'll experience a wide range of work across all our sectors including financial services, technology, retail, public services, private wealth, energy, transport and healthcare. With evolving privacy and cyber laws and regulation, we are creating new opportunities to support our clients even further and now is an exciting time to join the team!

Working with the wider commercial disputes team across the country there will be plenty of opportunity for client contact and you'll be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with these contacts.

Business development is important for all of our lawyers, and you will be able to contribute to the growth of the team by assisting with the organisation of client events, writing articles for our website and other marketing activities.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

We're keen to see applications from commercial disputes lawyers who can demonstrate strong experience of specialising within cyber litigation.  You'll be excited at the prospect of working in a busy and supportive environment and will demonstrate a proven track record of working within contractual technology disputes, cyber and data privacy litigation - ideally for a large regional or city law firm. Experience in GDPR, e privacy directives, cybersecurity and data privacy ( EU and UK) would be ideal.

Whatever your experience level, or background, you'll need excellent drafting skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism, innovation and a strong team ethos to help further develop the team's client base. You'll also need to be motivated to participate in business development that helps to raise the team's profile and network.

We can be flexible about location and home-working, although your 'local' office would need to be either Southampton, Bristol, Leeds or Newcastle. All our offices have a strong commercial offering, a collegiate atmosphere and a commitment to providing a national service for our clients.
