We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, highly professional and engaging individual to join our London-based Human Resources Team as a Recruitment Manager, where they will play a key role in ensuring excellent service delivery to the business.
Human Resources (‘HR’) is responsible for supporting and developing the firm’s people to help drive and shape the future success of the firm. Our dedicated HR Advisory and Resourcing team provides a comprehensive offering, including end to end HR advisory support to all practice Groups and Business Services teams, as well as providing the highest level of service to stakeholders throughout the entire recruitment lifecycle. The HR department comprises the following teams:
• HR Advisory and Resourcing;
• Trainee Recruitment;
• Responsible Business and Inclusion;
• HR Operations; and
• Learning and Development (‘L&D’).
The HR Advisory and Resourcing team is the front facing part of HR and works closely with these other teams in HR to support the firm in achieving its strategic goals. This role reports into the Senior Recruitment Manager which in turn reports into the Head of HR Advisory and Resourcing.
The Recruitment Manager role is a new position within the revised team structure and will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of operational recruitment, driving forward project work, line managing the team and working closely with the Senior Recruitment Manager on team priorities and strategy.
The revised structure will be led by the Senior Recruitment Manager, into whom this Recruitment Manager will reporting directly. The team will also be home to another Recruitment Manager, focusing on Technology recruitment, two Recruitment Advisers, a Resourcing Executive and two Administrators.
The key responsibilities of this role are set out below – there may be others which are not listed. This role will require some flexibility from the individual, which may include working outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.
Responsibility for the end-to-end recruitment of Legal and Business Services employees for a portfolio of Legal Groups and Business Services teams, including oversight of all contract and temporary worker engagement and on-boarding;
Carrying an ongoing caseload of operational recruitment across Legal and Business Services, including working closely with the partners to understand and respond to their practice needs;
Working alongside the Senior Recruitment Manager to oversee, promote and deploy direct hiring via the LinkedIn Recruiter solution and Legal Monitor platforms;
Gathering and providing analysis of useful data in relation to direct sourcing including quality of hire, time to hire and any requisite costs savings, helping to ensure the firm achieves value for money from its investment in new technologies;
Working with the Senior Recruitment Manager to identify the team’s priorities and help shape strategy in response to the changing needs of the business, including ensuring diversity principles are embedded in all elements of the recruitment process;
Recruitment supplier relationship management, including monitoring the performance of any PSL suppliers, acting as the initial point of contact and working with the Senior Recruitment Manager on any complex issues where necessary.
Leading the Recruitment Team’s contribution to flagship non-legal graduate programmes, such as the BD Academy and the Legal Operations Training Programme, supervising the selection and assessment processes to ensure alignment with best practice and procedures;
Working with the Lateral Recruitment team and others teams across the business on recruitment-specific and wider firm projects as requested;
Developing creative approaches to engaging candidates and creating awareness of the firm’s employer brand;
Ongoing review and update of the recruitment-related content on the firm’s website and intranet pages, ensuring it remains up-to-date, relevant and appropriate at all times.
Oversight of the screening and vetting of all new hires and non-employee workers in line with best practice and established procedures, including management of the relationship with our third-party screening service provider, escalating any screening issues to the Senior Recruitment Manager where the related engagement may be impacted;
Working with the Senior Recruitment Manager to produce the relevant data to input into the twice-yearly budget for the Lateral Recruitment Team
Keeping abreast of legal and recruitment industry trends, technologies and developments, including through a strong network of external contacts, both within and outside the legal sector, making recommendations for change as required;
Responsibility for ensuring GDPR and wider data protection compliance in relation to all operational recruitment within remit;
Good knowledge of relevant employment law, equalities legislation, IR35 and data privacy issues relating to Talent Acquisition, seeking guidance on any such matters where appropriate.
Line management of the Lateral Recruitment Team’s Advisers, including delivering regular, effective feedback and encouraging their professional development, and conducting performance reviews;
Maintaining oversight of and supporting the wider recruitment team to deliver on projects and initiatives they are taking the lead on;
Working closely with the Senior Recruitment Manager, ensuring the Resourcing Executive is utilised as effectively as possible to yield optimal results from the use of alternative sourcing methods;
Working closely with the team’s administrator and the Finance team to ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner.
Candidates for this position will be expected to have worked, or be working, in a similar role within a professional services environment and should have experience of lawyer recruitment, plus previous line management experience. We also require candidates to have or be:
experience of using LinkedIn Recruiter and / or Legal Monitor, and other direct and alternative sourcing tools, with a demonstrable track record of successful candidate sourcing;
the ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external clients, and the resilience to deal with demanding individuals;
a confident and proactive individual prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing their workload using their own initiative;
high level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics;
comfortable accepting instructions and guidance from different angles and managing several tasks at one time;
active listening skills, and demonstrate professionalism in all dealings
excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar;
excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
experience of working in a diverse team whilst fostering an inclusive team culture
excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines;

a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and excellent administrative skills and experience.
