We advise across the spectrum of legal matters including high-profile, ground-breaking and complex transactions, contentious matters and all aspects of risk. We deliver innovative and bespoke solutions to our clients, domestically and internationally. We provide clear legal advice that spans the globe whilst tackling the cultural nuances between jurisdictions. Our lawyers understand how to coordinate and manage matters in the jurisdictions most relevant to our clients.

We are now offering the opportunity to become part of our dynamic team, which supports our lawyers in providing first-class legal advice to some of the most prestigious and well-known global businesses.

At Slaughter and May, with over 1,200 partners and staff worldwide, everyone's contribution is valued, and we all enjoy an open, friendly and supportive environment. We have an underlying sense of pride in who we are and what we do, and our inclusive culture gives rise to a unique diversity of thinking, which is critical to our success and helps maintain our position as a true market leader. To support our employees in achieving their professional development objectives, we offer an unrivalled variety of learning and development opportunities to everyone, as well as a highly competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. In light of the continuing coronavirus pandemic, the firm has evolved a new hybrid approach to working, which sees our people working between their respective remote environments and our prestigious Headquarters at One Bunhill Row, in the heart of the City of London.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Our Disputes and Investigations (DI) group has an outstanding international reputation. We have an impressive client base, which includes leading financial institutions, global corporates, governments and international organisations. We handle a wide range of civil disputes and proceedings as well as allegations involving white-collar crime and criminal proceedings arising in a corporate context. We act in complex, high value, multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitrations in the United Kingdom and abroad, as well as handling all other forms of dispute resolution, including mediations.

Our Global Investigations Group (GIG) encompasses lawyers in the DI, Corporate, Competition, Tax and Financial Regulation Groups. We handle the full spectrum of investigations and inquiries work, including financial regulatory, corporate crime, competition and tax investigations.

The DI Group is made up of approximately 13 Partners, 60 Associates and 25 Trainee Solicitors. Fee-earners are supported by a practice support team consisting of 3 Professional Support Lawyers (PSLs), and Knowledge and Innovation, Business Development and Project Management teams.

Sitting alongside the fee earning legal teams is a Legal Operations unit and it is within this unit that this role sits. The Legal Operations unit currently consists of a team of Paralegals, a 7 member e-Disclosure Team and a Document Review Team (whose size depends on the volume of work being undertaken).

The Evidence Review Management Team will sit within the Legal Operations unit, and act as the critical interface between the Associate, e-Disclosure and Document Review teams. You will be required to work with all three teams to ensure the most effective, efficient and accurate interrogation of (usually electronically stored) information and evidence. Your role is, in essence, to lead the management of the evidential review process from start to finish. You will bring together technology, processes, management and analytics to ensure that large volumes of information are interrogated effectively, efficiently and accurately.

We are looking for intelligent, organised and motivated people who can work alongside and bring together different teams. The nature of this role lends itself well to flexible working arrangements and we are open to discussing this with you throughout the process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A non-exhaustive list of the key responsibilities of this role are set out below:

 Managing, monitoring and supervising the execution of large scale electronic evidence reviews

 Working alongside the e-Disclosure team in utilising advanced review methodology through the use of e-Disclosure technology, processes and analytical tools

 Working alongside Associates to develop and execute the most effective review strategy, including advising on review protocols

 Coordinating and supervising internal and external review teams, together with Associates, to facilitate the efficient execution of document review exercises

 Undertaking document review, especially at the initial sampling and planning phases and during more complex review exercises

 Assist with the efficient extraction of information from document reviews to identify and analyse evidence, draft chronologies, evidential summaries and case narratives

 Identifying and implementing new and advanced technologies (working with our K&I Team) to increase efficiency on all projects

 Ensuring reviews are properly managed, with the production and analysis of key metrics to key stakeholders

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Candidates for this position must have:

 Strong academic qualifications (2:1 degree or above from a top university preferred) including a degree or post-graduate diploma in law and completion of the LPC

 Appropriate level of post-qualification experience in a City law firm or equivalent (whether in the UK or another jurisdiction)

 Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work effectively

 Highly competent written and spoken communication, confidence interacting professionally with a broad range of people, including lawyers and members of Business Services of varying levels

 Self-motivated and able to work independently and pro-actively

 Excellent efficiency and project management skills

 Excellent research skills and eye for detail

 Good IT skills and an ability to learn new IT systems quickly

 Experience in working with e-Disclosure (desired but not essential as training will be provided)

 Good team player, ability to adapt and fit into a diverse team, reliable, flexible and willing to take on new challenges

 High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics

 Resilience under pressure with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

 Willingness to present to large and small groups, both internal and external
