We are currently looking for a L&D Consultant on a 12 month FTC, this role can be based in our London or Glasgow office with hybrid working.

Department/Role overview:

Ashurst Advance is Ashurst's full service market-leading New Law offering that partners with our clients to achieve their goals in delivering cost-effective and outcomes-orientated legal service delivery.

We work seamlessly with the firm's legal advisory and consulting experts to deliver innovative, holistic and commercial solutions that future proof our clients' businesses, enhanced by our capabilities across digital, advanced delivery, legal managed services, legal operations and flexible resourcing.

Main responsibilities:

Reporting into the Learning and Development Manager for Ashurst Advance, this role will:

  •  Manage all stages of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation (ADDIE) of the learning cycle for Ashurst Advance, the New Law Division of Ashurst
  •  Manage the learning needs all of Ashurst employees to ensure that they have a thorough understanding of Ashurst Advance and are able to identify and convert commercial opportunities both internally and externally
  •  Collaborate with project teams to design and deliver learning resources and programmes to support key transformation initiatives across the firm such as legal transformation, cloud, digital and service delivery
  •  Work proactively with stakeholders across the firm to ensure that they are involved in learning where appropriate
  •  Programme and project management across multiple geographies
  •  Work closely with other L&D speciality teams (e.g. e-learning, Technology and Digital) to ensure that all planned activity is implemented and achieved
  •  Where internal faculty/SMEs are identified for programmes-Support where appropriate with facilitation coaching
  •  Where external suppliers are required- identify and agree scope of work, negotiate and manage contracting process, ensure quality of service is delivered and sustained
  •  Facilitate learning workshops and events both in person and virtually to global participants
  •  Identify opportunities to make learning more accessible and intuitive
  •  Contribute to relevant administration of the function including learning records, budgeting, communications and reporting as required
  •  Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

  •  Significant experience of analysis, design, development, implementation (ADDIE) for a wide range of needs and learners
  •  Ability to quickly build trusted stakeholder relationships
  •  Experience of co-creating learning solutions with these stakeholders/SMEs
  •  Experience of managing learning needs in one or several of these areas: digital capability, data, service delivery, innovation, client relationships, transformation/change management or a need that was particularly technically challenging
  •  Evidence of challenging stakeholders and colleagues during the ADDIE cycle to achieve the best outcome
  •  Proven record of developing innovative blended learning solutions
  •  Demonstration of commercial acumen from both a client and stakeholder perspective and a programme management perspective
  •  Strong analytical skills for problem solving, identifying themes and patterns
  •  Emotional maturity and good judgment with the ability to be adaptable
  •  Proactive with excellent organisational skills - able manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
  •  Able to work collaboratively in a geographically dispersed team as well as independently
  •  Flexible (with notice) to work early mornings due to working with our colleagues in Australia
  •  Demonstration of continued curiosity

Desired skills and experience:

  •  Experience of using design thinking
  •  Understanding of the legal environment and lawyers' work practices
  •  Accreditation in psychometric assessment (eg Facet5) highly regarded
  •  Online facilitation experience (eg using Zoom or similar)
  •  Experience of Learning Management Systems
  •  Degree qualified (and CIPD qualification or other qualification related to learning)
