We are looking for a Senior Information Specialist to serve as a primary interface in Scotland for the delivery of Knowledge and Research Services.

About the Role

To support fee-earners and employees based in Scotland with all Knowledge requirements working with the central Knowledge team as well as the local PSLs.
To promote and raise awareness of Knowledge services and resources to the Scottish communities.
To maintain the hard copy collection in Scotland including regular visits to Glasgow and Aberdeen as required.
― To contribute to the delivery of Knowledge and Research Services via the central Knowledge Help Desk on a rota basis using ServiceNow to ensure all requests are fully documented showing the complete email trail and then delivered back to the client within Service Level Agreements.
― To exploit all available information sources and facilitate user access to relevant content.
― Research using traditional printed materials, commercial electronic sources as well as the internet.
― Providing advice on self-service solutions for simpler enquiries, calling on the resources available via the CMS Compass Knowledge system and intranet.
― Capturing research know-how for future use and contributing to the team knowledge bank WIKI and internal pages on the intranet as appropriate.
― Deliver face to face training in Scotland as well as contribute to the design and delivery of the wider Knowledge training and induction programme for Trainees, New Joiners and Practice Groups to include presentation, guidance and information documentation.
― Delivery of current awareness services to include commercial press alerts delivered via email or dashboards using both the contracted service (Lexis NewsDesk) and other relevant resources both commercial and freely available.
― Procurement and budget work as required.
― Specific projects as required.

About You

An ideal candidate will:

― Excellent IT skills to include key Microsoft software in particular PowerPoint, Excel (advanced skills desirable - pivot tables, data manipulation) as well as the firm's Document Management System (FileSite / WorkSite/ I-Manage).
― Strong organizational skills. Ability to plan workload and meet deadlines. Ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm when working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Work efficiently on multiple tasks without direct supervision
― Attention to detail - research output is accurate reflecting original request. Ability to condense and summarise complex information accurately.
― Flexibility - ability to adapt to changed responsibilities and new situations.
― Customer focus
― Communication and listening skills - Recognises different working / communication styles of users and colleagues.
― Creativity - has new, creative and unique ideas. Encourages the creative initiatives of others. Is highly pro-active and focuses on continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

― An understanding and awareness of copyright and licensing obligations.

Previous Experience
― Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Information Services is essential, in the legal or professional services sector.
― Significant experience of undertaking research and/or answering enquiries.
― Extensive knowledge and experience of wide range of legal data sources both hard copy and core online (LexisLibrary, LexisPSL, Practical Law, Westlaw UK, Nexis, Lexis NewsDesk).
― Awareness of key company and business research databases (Companies House, BvD Orbis, FT) and an excellent ability to search across publicly available sources, as well as the ability to use and review core internal data sources.
― Experience of delivering training and induction sessions.
― SharePoint and intranet maintenance skills desirable.

Professional/Educational Qualification
A degree or post-graduate qualification in Information and Library Management, or Information Science is essential. Chartered CILIP Status, membership of BIALL or similar desirable
