We currently have an exciting opportunity for an organised and efficient individual to join us as Global Corporate Practice Manager.  This role will provide support provide support for the Global Practice Group Co-Heads and COO of the Corporate practice and will contribute to planning and delivering the global Corporate practice group’s strategy and operations.

The global Corporate department has over 160 partners and 1,100 staff.  The group is led by the Global Practice Group Co-Heads, with the COO and global Heads of HR and Marketing reporting to them, with other team members reporting up to the Co-Heads through them.

Role and responsibilities

  • Participating in the ongoing implementation of the global Corporate strategy, including prioritising and ensuring timely follow up on issues for the Global Corporate Co-Heads
  • Supporting the review of and feedback on business plans prepared by the Global Corporate groups and ensuring follow up on issues by the Corporate Board or as part of other partner discussions
  • Supporting the partner compensation process, working closely with the Global Corporate Co-Heads, COO and Global Heads of HR and Finance to manage points, gates, ladders and the core ladder progression process
  • Planning and supporting partner reviews globally, including follow up to ensure objectives are agreed and recorded
  • Planning and organising the annual Corporate PSC process alongside the Global Head of HR, including support for global Corporate PSC candidates, for example through the practice group adviser programme
  • Supporting on lateral partner hires
  • Secretary to the Global Corporate Board, including preparation of materials and minutes for the Global Corporate Partners and ensuring agreed actions are followed up on a timely basis
  • Responsible for internal communications, including departmental updates, slides for partner conferences / global partner calls, minutes of meetings and presentations to associates
  • Planning office visits for example preparing for associate town halls and partner meetings, linking in with relevant partners for client visits, arranging meetings, recording and monitoring actions and follow up
  • Monitoring Global Corporate busyness and headcount and following up on any actions agreed as part of RPC approval
  • Providing direct business support for Global Corporate Co-Heads and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary information to fulfil their management duties.

Team
As well as working as part of the Global Corporate management team reporting to the Global Corporate COO, the role also has key relationships with the wider Corporate support team and certain of the Corporate Partners worldwide.

Key requirements
It is essential that the post holder is:

  • Able to contribute to discussions in meetings of Partners with confidence
  • Able to drive the agenda and influence others to get things done
  • Able to operate with tact and discretion pragmatically in an environment where issues are often complex and lines of reporting are ambiguous
  • Able to interpret financial reports accurately and with confidence
  • Aware of and able to implement HR and other Firm policies in respect of partners and staff
  • Able to juggle a wide range of issues and projects at the same time, as well as to prioritise and manage own and others’ time effectively
  • Able to draft appropriate high quality internal communications in a range of media (emails, presentations etc)
