Are you looking for an opportunity with a sector driven, technology focused law firm?

About CMS

CMS is a Future Facing firm. With 79 offices in 45 countries and 5,000+ lawyers worldwide, we combine deep sector understanding with a global overview, giving us the ability not only to see what's coming, but to shape it.

CMS is well equipped to help our clients face the future with confidence. We are driven by technology and readily embrace the possibilities it opens up for developing new and better ways of delivering legal services. Our bold approach to a changing future ensures that we nurture our employees and recruit top talent.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team supporting a market-leading practice. Our UK corporate practice, with about 80 partners and 250 lawyers, is one of the most sought after for advising on transactions in the UK and across Europe and regularly tops the M&A and equity capital markets league tables. Its funds & indirect real assets team is considered market leading by all major directories. The firm's sector leaders for Consumer Products and Hotel & Leisure also sit within the corporate practice group and are supported by its BD team.
Under energetic and ambitious leadership the corporate team is looking to further boost its market profile, leverage firm-wide client relationships and land roles on headline transactions. You would be part of a team of five business development professionals supporting the corporate partners on making these ambitions come to life.
We pride ourselves on having an energetic and loyal team of lawyers and support staff and a friendly atmosphere. Do you have a can-do and solution-oriented attitude? Can you make others responsive to new ideas and engaged in new initiatives? Do you like thinking of new ways to win business? Then you may be the candidate that we are looking for!
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Events: support the organisation of seminars, webinars and client social events, including the design and distribution of the invites using the relevant software applications
Campaigns: support on the development and execution of marketing campaigns
  • Pitching: support on drafting proposals and credential statements, including finding relevant credentials and CVs in databases and liaising with other teams for information where required
  • BD infrastructure: to maintain and work with BD infrastructure, including standard pitch content, website content, maintaining and updating the credentials database and client relationship management software
  • Directory and award submissions: support on directory and awards submissions, including sourcing information and pulling together first drafts
  • Marketing materials: working with the wider BD team and design team to produce marketing materials such as brochures
  • PR/Social media: supporting lawyers and the team on creating social media posts, and liaising with the comms team on internal and external news announcements.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have some previous Marketing & BD experience within a professional services environment and will possess strong written and numerical skills, with the ability to present complex information and concepts in a clear and concise manner. Grasping, retaining and analysing complex information and concepts. A proactive can-do approach with a drive to support the growth of our business.

Company

CMS is a future facing international law firm. With 75 offices in 43 countries and 4,800+ lawyers worldwide, and home to business services colleagues across everything from Information Technology, Human Resources and Innovation to Finance, Diversity & Inclusion and Communications.  The firm’s core purpose is to build rewarding futures for its clients, people and communities.

In a world of ever-accelerating change where technology is increasingly important in the deployment of global strategies, every team at CMS is empowered to operate and innovate in ways that best meet clients’ needs. We encourage ideas from every corner of our business. We are also committed to addressing our own impact on the environment and approach to sustainability, as well as advising clients with their related legal needs.

We strive to spend more time looking at our clients’ world than inwards at ours.  That’s what makes our approach different. Being able to see things from our clients’ perspective means our people are approachable and accessible. And this means we have a genuinely supportive, open culture you won’t find everywhere.

We take the same approach with our colleagues: we pride ourselves on fostering a workplace where everyone is encouraged to speak up, share ideas, seek advice and where ability and commitment is recognised by rapid progression.

At CMS, a next-generation mindset is woven into all we do.  We're diverse, supportive and inclusive, embracing our corporate social responsibility and creating a culture of sustainability in which every one of our people, whatever their background, can maximise their potential and thrive.

Whatever your specialism, and whether you’re a lawyer or a business services professional, a career at CMS gives you huge scope to carve out a brilliant career as you help us, and our clients, to face the future with confidence.
