We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a professional, engaging individual to join us as a Corporate Business Development Executive within our London-based Global Client Development team (GCD).

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are recruiting for a Business Development Executive to join the Corporate BD team. The Corporate BD team is part of the GCD team and wider Business Development department based at the firm’s head office in London. The GCD team works closely with partners and other fee earners to win work and grow client relationships on a global basis.

Taking an integrated approach to client development, the team brings together regional, practice and sector based expertise to maintain, grow and support client relationships and law firm (strategic partner) relationships.

The Corporate BD team works closely with the Corporate Stream partners to support all business development activities including our client relationship management, client targeting, pitching, the production of credentials documents and client events.

The successful candidate will report to the Senior BD Manager for Corporate team, while working closely with other team members as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role sits in a dynamic and high achieving team and the Corporate Business Development Executive will be involved in a range of different BD activities whilst getting good exposure to partners and other fee-earners.

You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm. Although we are all working remotely currently, we have a flexible working structure in place for when we do return to the office.

The key responsibilities of this role will include some or all of the following:

  • Provide support to the Corporate Practice Support Function team on their various BD initiatives
  • Assist the Corporate team with the day to day running and management of the CRM Programme (tracking associate leavers and joiners, ensuring fee earners are prepared for meetings, tracking key meeting actions, updating the department’s intranet pages with new information and sharing knowledge, developments and targeting opportunities with the wider team)
  • Assist the Senior Business Development Manager with the management and BD support on flagship and firm-wide client events and targeting initiatives
  • Provide pitch support, from initial discussions through to submission
  • Helping to maintain information for pitch use
  • Maintain and update a number of the department’s key BD documents
  • Contribute towards directory and awards submissions in the Corporate team
  • Maintain and update the suite of Corporate marketing documents
  • Manage the department’s CRM lists using the firm’s CRM tool — Microsoft Dynamics
  • Maintain and update the department’s website pages
  • Monitor market, industry and competitor information and feed through to the Support Function/wider stakeholders as necessary
  • Responsible for identifying and collating materials for regular internal partner (and wider team) meetings
  • Collaborating with the wider BD department, such as BD Research, Communication and Design teams to ensure knowledge-sharing and best practice
  • Collate and submit regular deal reports and liaise with external deal accreditors on ad-hoc requests
  • Supporting delivery of the corporate events programme, both in person, hybrid and online
  • Maintaining watchlists in relation to client and prospect initiatives
  • Supporting the delivery and promotion of content through internal and external channels
  • Update and maintain our public corporate client list, liaising with external intelligence providers and produce summary reports for internal team

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Candidates for this position must have:

  • Degree-educated or equivalent industry experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, confidence to develop strong working relationships with fee earners and members of the BD team
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables within a tight timeframe and deliver high quality work
  • Previous BD and Marketing experience, most recently at an assistant or executive level in legal or professional services
  • Demonstrable confidence to develop strong working relationships with the partners, associates, PSLs and all members of the BD team
  • Ability to manage and analyse large amounts of data, and identify BD opportunities within it
  • Ability to be proactive, entrepreneurial and self- motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, spoken and presentational)
  • Excellent attention to detail and good use of grammar
  • Proactive approach to defining needs and delivering solutions
  • Ability to build strong business relationships with internal and external clients and the resilience to deal with demanding individuals
  • Willingness to foster an inclusive team culture
  • High level of professionalism and integrity; displays the highest standard of professional ethics
