Where you'll work

Trowers & Hamlins is ranked by The Lawyer as having one of the UK’s Top 15 Real Estate practices.  Core to that is the preeminent work we do for private individuals, consortia, partnerships and banks in the sale, purchase, development, and funding of residential property.

The Residential team is part of our wider Real Estate department and comprises of 10 individuals spread across Exeter and London. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to add value, grow in their role and provide long term support to the team.  

What you'll be doing

  • Land Registry searches and applications 
  • Stamp Duty Land Transaction applications
  • Searching strong room record and obtaining documents from strong room
  • Dealing with correspondence from DPC ie printing letters and collating enclosures from file including copying and scanning
  • Filing
  • Obtaining archived files
  • Opening and closing files
  • Back up to PA/junior legal assistant to receive phone calls
  • Dealing with cheque requisitions, TT and BAC's paperwork
  • Seeing clients who bring in information or have a query (PA back-up)
  • Amendments to letters and documents prepared by DPC to enable post to go out promptly
  • Engrossing property deeds
  • Organising client meetings
  • Dealing with administrative queries from third parties such as Land Registry and Inland Revenue
  • Sending copy documents to clients
  • Preparation of simple transfers and stock transfer forms
  • Preparation of initial confirmation of instruction letters and compiling draft contract packs
  • Ordering searches
  • Assisting with file opening, client care and ID requirements
  • Assisting with registrations to the Land Registry and other post completion work such as Notices to Landlords; sending on deeds of covenant.
  • Obtaining indemnity quotations and preparing demands and needs letters including notifying the firm's insurance mediation Partner.
  • Preparing simple letters to clients and third parties

Experience and qualifications

  • A thorough understanding in Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience in an administrative role
