In the real estate sector, our global M&A practice combines with our market-leading real estate offering – operating across 80 offices world-wide to advise a wide range of clients (including private equity real estate investors, sovereign wealth funds, global institutions, pension funds, listed property companies, real estate developers and operators) on significant single and multi-asset investments and divestments, joint ventures and co-investments across a number of jurisdictions. Our dedicated private equity real estate (PERE) team led by Jo Owen and Rob Salter specialise in advising some of the largest owners and managers of real estate assets in the world on their high-value complex cross-border real estate transactions. We advise our clients across all asset classes within the real estate sector, from data centres to offices and from logistics to retail. Our team has extensively advised on operational real estate, including across the hotel and leisure sector as well as across co-working & co-living, self-storage and student housing.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of a global Corporate Real Estate team, you will focus on acquisitions and disposals of large-scale / pan-European real estate portfolios and/or trophy assets as well as joint ventures and co-investments involving real estate assets.
You will deliver exceptional results to clients on a broad range of complex issues including:

  • Cross-border M&A involving pan-European real estate portfolios and/or trophy assets
  • Corporate wrapper sales and acquisitions 
  • Drafting and advising on joint venture documentation (including by way of LP, LLP and shareholders’ agreement) 
  • Transaction structuring 
  • Knowledge of real estate finance
  • Knowledge of the various real estate asset classes

ABOUT YOU

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have, however, given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 2 and 6 years' PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role. Candidates at the more junior end of the range can expect to receive excellent training from “hands on” partners with leading profiles in the PERE and Corporate Real Estate markets. Candidates at the more senior end of the range can expect to lead on the documentation and negotiations for some of our clients’ most significant investments.  

  • Solicitor or barrister, ideally qualified in England & Wales or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Experience across private equity and M&A transactions, ideally within the real estate sector 
  • Experience working across jurisdictions 
  • Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news 
  • Excellent skills in communication, client relations and team-working 
  • Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
  • Builds and develops own network of internal and external contacts
  • Awareness of business development initiatives and identifies ways to contribute
  • Maintains a controlled, objective and flexible approach under pressure
  • Proactive and innovative
