Department/Role overview:

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Client Development Executive to join our global Business Development team.

The Client Development Executive will be part of our Business Development team, providing support on the management of the firm's global Client Listening programme, our client feedback and insights programme, as well as supporting client relationships and working on central business development initiatives.

Client Listening is an integral part of our clients and markets strategy, supporting the firms growth in our chosen products, sectors and priority clients.

The Client Development Executive will act as an ambassador for the BD team and the client feedback programme and will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of high profile, client centric projects, working with senior stakeholders across the firm.

Main responsibilities:

Client Listening Programme

  •  Work with the head of client listening on the development and management of the programme, embedding a culture of continuous client feedback across the firm.
  •  Maintain our global Client Listening tracker, reporting on progress against targets and managing the pipeline to ensure timely collection of feedback.
  •  Work closely with the global BD team to support them in meeting practice and industry client listening goals and incorporate feedback into client and business planning.
  •  Review monthly matter, pitch and priority client reports to identify potential opportunities for gathering feedback.
  •  Analysing client listening data, monitoring firmwide trends and spotting industry specific themes, providing regular updates to the team and key stakeholders.
  •  Supporting the production of regular management reports to share data analysis, identification of insights and key trends.
  •  Participate in client meetings, ensuring accurate capture of client feedback.
  •  Support the internal communications strategy to share news on the client listening programme and increase firmwide awareness and engagement with the programme.
  •  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share themes and insights, help prioritise and shape projects and incorporate the voice of the client to central initiatives.
  •  Maintain the tools, guidance and best practice materials to support the programme.
  •  Support client listening training across the firm to upskill teams gathering feedback, as well as contributing insights to imbed a client focused approach in wider training programmes.

Client Relationship Management

  •  Undertaking and preparing research in relation to clients, as well as preparing materials to assist CRPs and CRMs for relationship meetings and client listening sessions.
  •  Support Client Relationship Managers to develop and execute client account plans for key clients to help deepen relationships and drive profitable growth across the Ashurst network.
  •  Develop an in-depth understanding of the nominated clients and their businesses, and assist with the sharing of that information within Ashurst.
  •  Coordinate and liaise with other client relationship teams to ensure consistency and sharing of strategic information across clients and industries.

Business Development

  •  Produce client specific marketing materials (brochures, flyers etc), includes writing content and liaising with the design and editing team as required.
  •  Maintain key information systems such as CRM and intranet to share and capture strategic client relationship information.
  •  Contribute to central marketing and business development initiatives, as required.
  •  Assist the business on pitch opportunities, working with the bids team to provide background research, collating information on the firm's experience and producing focused business proposals highlighting the teams expertise.
  •  Build relationships across the whole global Business Development team as well as cross-functional collaboration with other core functions, including L&OD, Finance, Knowledge, People and Culture team.

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

  •  Front line Business Development experience - ideally, will have worked within a law firm or professional services environment.
  •  Interest in understanding client's needs and how we can improve their experience.
  •  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships at all levels.
  •  Excellent organisation and project management skills, methodical with attention to detail.
  •  Ability to juggle a busy and varied workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  •  Data analysis and visualisation skills, including the ability to present data in a format appropriate for different levels of stakeholders.
  •  Strong written communication skills.
  •  Determination and commitment to ensure successful completion of projects.
  •  Lateral thinking and the ability to overcome obstacles.
  •  Team player.
