About the RoleThe Healthcare team in our Insurance & Reinsurance Group is busy and growing. We are looking to hire across our Bristol and Sheffield offices at the 2 PQE+ level. The team act for medical defence organisations (MDO) and insurers defending complex, high value, high profile med-mal claims and regulatory matters. Key areas of work include all types of obstetric, neurological, orthopaedic, and oncological claims amongst the full spectrum of clinical injuries as well as representing healthcare professionals in disciplinary matters before their regulators, including the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service and General Dental Council, at Inquests and before public inquiries.

There is the opportunity to specialise in healthcare, as well as gain exposure to wider classes of claims within our insurance team such as professional indemnity, financial lines, aviation, marine, reinsurance, cyber and tech.

You will have the opportunity to work with an enviable client base, including the leading MDO and insurers. The team are known for their skill in managing high value claims involving complex issues on liability and quantum and being highly commercial in their advice. We offer the prospect of joining a growing healthcare insurance practice and of working closely with key clients, alongside being encouraged to develop your own contacts/network in the market.


About YouThe right individual will have 2 PQE+ in med-mal claims working for MDOs/ insurers/Trusts gained at a City, insurance, major regional or leading international firm with strong experience handling clients in healthcare matters.

You will have excellent drafting skills and the ability to translate legal theory into practical, commercial advice.

Due to the role being client facing you will need to have sound judgement and good interpersonal and project management skills.
