Role: Solution Architect 12 month FTC

Location: Based at Ashurst's Glasgow office

Reporting to: Head of Enterprise Architecture

Hours of work -

Monday to Friday, 09.00 to 17.30. You will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties.

Department/ Role Overview:

The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Architecture Team to design, document and facilitate the implementation of the Ashurst LLP application, technology and enterprise architectures through the various IT teams and technology partners. These IT Architectures must support the overall Ashurst LLP business strategy. This role reports to the Head of Enterprise Architecture

Main responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of:
  • application and data architectures that are aligned to the business strategies and direction
  • technology architectures that enable the application and data architecture
  • development architectures that enable Ashurst's IT to develop business solutions in the most efficient and effective manner adhering to the Ashurst IT Solution Design Principles.
  • Ensure that these architectures are recognised as the road map for all business services and technical solutions.
  • Stay abreast of developments in appropriate new technologies/services and participate in the investigation / assessment of the suitability of these to Ashurst's environment and business needs.
  • Production of technical solution designs for assigned projects, and gaining acceptance and approval from internal stakeholders. Be an active participant in teams formed to progress projects and business initiatives
  • Ensure that Architecture is, and is recognised as, a valuable asset to Ashurst LLP
  • IT Governance:
  • ensure that documented standards and working practices are followed
  • highlight any non-conformance with documented standards and working practices with the Head of Enterprise Architecture
  • Promote an environment that encourages collaboration, team working and innovation both within the Architecture Team and across IT and other Ashurst LLP teams
  • Act as an ambassador for Architecture and IT
  • Understand the Customer's technical and/or integration requirements and in response to these develop and own the technical solution architecture.
  • Provide input to the commercial proposal the Statement of Work.
  • Analyse new project requests and requirements and own the creation of the integration design.
  • Analyse the current architecture to identify weaknesses, develop opportunities for improvements, and recommend new sustainable best practice approaches.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to align architectural requirements with IT strategy, collaborate on development of policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Lead technical workshops with the customer and IT to ensure that all technical requirements are understood and seek sign off-of the requirements/Statement of Work.
  • Support the Project Manager and the Programme Director across the full project lifecycle from design/configuration to implementation and testing through to the transition to support of the technical solution.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders to ensure that all solutions comply with the technical governance framework, with Infosec and risk principles.
  • Some travel to the Ashurst Glasgow/London office to attend customer meetings, workshops and internal team will be required.

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Any experience with Oracle Fusion or HR systems
  • Any experience in LMS systems
  • Any experience in any Work Allocation tools
  • Any knowledge of integration technologies
  • Experience with Environments(Prod,UAT,Dev,Test)
  • Experience around implementing SAAS based systems
  • Experience with any automation technologies
  • Demonstrate good experience in the IT industry with expertise in many areas of infrastructure and applications, preferably in a technical or enterprise architecture capacity
  • Experience with enterprise application architecture
  • Have demonstrable experience in design, strategy and architecture related activities
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of IT industry trends, suppliers and products, preferably in the legal sector
  • Experience with sizing, performance and high availability
  • Experience with data backup, business continuity and disaster recovery strategies and technologies
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Technologies:
    • Windows 10, O365, MS Azure
  • TOGAF certification
