Job Details

We have an excellent (and fully flexible) opportunity to join our Commercial team as a Practice Development Lawyer, working on a part-time basis (3 days per week).  The role can be home-based, with occasional attendance at one of our regional offices (Southampton, Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol or Plymouth), or a hybrid role with a mix of home and office working.

The role

The main focus of the role will be developing and maintaining the team's precedents.  Other aspects of the role will include developing training materials; providing legal updates on matters relevant to the team's practice and assisting with client requests for newsletters, horizon scanning, etc.  The role is predominantly internally focussed, but there is likely to be a need to carry out client facing requirements, such as training.  As such an appetite and enthusiasm for delivering internal and external training is key to the role.

The team

The firm's large and busy Commercial Team – which includes four sub-teams: commercial, IP, technology and data & privacy advises on the full spectrum of commercial contracts, supporting a wide range of clients across many sectors and industries both nationally and internationally.  The team is known particularly for its expertise in the retail, technology, manufacturing, chemicals and transport sectors, as well as complex public sector contracts.

The candidate

We're looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years PQE gained in Private Practice.  However, aside from this, we are open-minded about what stage in their career any potential candidate might be.  For example, the very flexible nature of the role means it may appeal to those looking to step away from fee-earning for the first time or those who are looking to return after a career break or those who are looking to work fewer days.
