Department/Role overview:
Provide accurate and timely information, support and guidance to the CBI Director.
Deliver consistent, high quality management accounting support to stakeholders, focusing on financial and budget management, benefits realisation, decision support, risk management and data intelligence.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, 09:30 - 17:30
Main responsibilities:
Financial and Management Accounting
- Prepare and issue monthly financial reports for the function
- Provide the CBI Director with support and explanation of the budget and forecast planning process and assistance in the understanding of any variances between planned and unplanned income and expenditure
- Produce high quality analysis and interpretation of variances between budget / forecast and actual costs
- Support the external audit process and liaise with internal and external auditors
- Ensure costs are capitalised as per the Firm's procedures
Project accounting support
- Support the development of the financial aspects of the business case for each proposed project
- Work with the CBI Director to develop a budget for the portfolio, track financial performance against the budget and identify and risks and issues
- Maintain the project costing system/cost centres including project set-up; ensuring all processes are up to date, implement new control procedures to manage cost allocation and cost reporting as necessary
Reporting and Financial modelling
- Undertake financial modelling using cash flow forecasts, 'what if' scenarios and income and cost relationships
- Compile, analyse and interrogate cost data for use in developing future budgets, forecasts, proposals and quotations
- Assist in developing new methods to report financial and non-financial information for the business particularly around headcount and benefits
- Undertake any other duties that may be required by the function
Support & Advice
- Provide support to the project delivery team and the PMO as required
Benefits Tracking
- Work with business owners to baseline financial benefits and understand how these were calculated
- Maintain the benefits tracker and work with the CBI Director and the PMO to align to delivery
- Ensure realised benefits are reported in monthly updates
Essential skills and experience:
- Qualified Accountant
- Able to communicate well at all levels with internal and external sources
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Good numerical and verbal reasoning skills
- Experience of Microsoft office, business accounting systems and reporting packages
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads, getting it right first time and be able to work without direct supervision
- Uses initiative - 'can do' approach and client focused
- Experience in working in a global environment and across multiple time-zones
