Our international Banking team operates as a global fully-integrated practice acting for both creditors and debtors on some of the most complex and innovative transactions worldwide. Our expertise includes acquisition and bid finance, real estate finance, structured finance, syndicated lending, secured lending, project finance, trade finance, asset finance and workouts and restructurings.
Our team works to ensure that banking transactions proceed quickly and effectively, with the minimum of fuss. Our position as a world class law firm, with a finance practice covering all facets of debt, structured lending and securities issues, enables us to put any transaction into the right context and provide the services which are appropriate to it.
The client base of the Banking team is predominately banks, investment funds and high end borrower work, much of which is headline making. Much of our lender and borrower work falls in line with the firm's sector approach and we have developed a strong reputation acting in the Asset Management, TMT, Life Sciences and the Energy and Infrastructure sectors as specialist lender/borrower counsel, as well as continuing the more traditional lending work for the bank client base.
We have a strong focus on technology and development in the Banking team and are committed to delivering more efficient ways of working for our clients and fee earners alike. A significant part of your role will therefore involve managing and delivering our in-house document automation programme. We also maintain a wide range of precedent and 'standard' banking documentation which needs constant maintenance and development. On top of this, you will expect to be involved in general know-how projects and to assist with know-how queries and questions raised by the group on topics of current interest (as well as more traditional topics). You will be required to be proactive in assisting with the origination of new ideas, as well as managing specific projects and delivering strategic initiatives (including in relation to the automation, standards work and the development of future working practices).
Working under the supervision of the group's senior PSL and the partner in charge of internal know-how, not to mention closely with other partners and senior fee earners within the Banking team, overall you will deliver high-quality knowhow and professional support services, adding value to our client offering and enhancing our working practices. Your work will actively support the Banking partners in the development of our future working practice (including on an international basis), and you will need to take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality materials and information.
Please note this is a part time role. We would welcome any candidates looking for a three day or four day week (the workload can be tailored to fit either). Subject to current COVID restrictions permitting, you will be expected to visit the Bristol or London office in person at least twice a month.
- Excellent academics.
- Ideally 2 yrs + PQE within the Banking market, gained at another leading practice.
- Ability and willingness to get actively involved in significant projects. Any coding / programming experience, however limited, would be a welcome addition (although this is not considered essential for the role)
- Commercially driven.
- Effective, responsible and conscientious. Must be able to demonstrate ability to deliver projects efficiently.
- Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
- Flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours on occasion as required.
