CMS are recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their expanding Finance & Accounting Team in Edinburgh!

About the Role

Reporting into the Group Management Accountants and ultimately the Group Financial & Management Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for preparing and posting accurate month end journals as part of a team, ensuring all management accounting deliverables and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Liaising with global finance teams in an oversight capacity to ensure proper coordination and completion of tasks.
  • Coordinating all monthly deliverables with the Financial Accounting team.
  • Timely production of accurate and reliable month end, annual budgeting, and quarterly reforecast data and reports.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders to resolve day-to-day finance queries.
  • Maintaining overhead cost models and preparing various detailed business analyses.
  • Commercially analysing business unit performance against budget.
  • Supporting the management accounting team during the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting cycles and updating the associated software tools.
  • Contributing towards the development and implementation of new Practice Management software in conjunction with the wider group accounting team.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations as necessary.
  • Providing requests and analyses as part of the annual statutory audit process.
  • Actively contributing towards the timely achievement of wider finance team deliverables and continuous improvement of internal processes.
  • Ensuring the group chart of accounts is properly controlled and correctly maintained.Supporting the team as required, providing cover for team members in times of absence.
  • Gaining a full understanding of all procedures and systems in place - "roll sleeves up" and help the team when necessary.
  • Maintaining good relationships with other departments within the business.

About You

We'd like you to have the following experience:

* Prior experience in a management accounting / group finance role (essential)

* Strong analytical and MS Excel skills (essential)

* Practical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS102 (desirable)

* Experience of Elite Enterprise / Elite 3E and SAP Business Objects (desirable)

* Good communication skills and the ability to deal with non-finance related personnel.

We'd like you to have the following qualifications:

* Part Qualified Accountant working towards ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or Equivalent (essential)

* Have a relevant degree in finance and accounting (2.1 preferred)
