About the role and team
Are you a creative problem solver? Do you have experience of technology and the delivery of professional services, ideally in a law firm? If so, could you be a legal engineer at Anthony Collins?
Legal Engineering is quickly becoming a critical role at the interface between law and technology. It makes legal processes quicker and efficient, at a fraction of the cost and effort and looks at how the delivery of the law could be done in alternative ways. Legal engineering aims to find creative and new solutions to problems and helps keep law firms relevant and ahead of the curve.
Anthony Collins is a nationally leading law firm, headquartered in Birmingham and has a purpose to transform lives, communities, and society.
This is a new role working in the recently formed Innovation and Improvement team that exists to help the firm stay ahead with innovation, transformation & efficiency.
The role will be multi-faceted. Working alongside the Head of Transformation, Technology and Improvement you will split your time working on projects to improve business and legal processes and work with legal teams to seek out opportunities so they can improve the service to clients.
The work will be creative and varied, but you can expect to spend time: Leading workstreams or projects; Attending demonstrations of possible solutions and showcasing these to teams; reviewing legal processes to ensure that they are as efficient as possible and designing ‘to be’ workflows and automating documents; investigating a wide range of legal tech products, whether that be AI and contract lifecycle management platforms, chat bots, or RPA to provide solutions to clients’ business needs; and spend time listening and understanding the challenges both our staff and clients face.
As this is a new role, there is scope to carve out your own career. You will be encouraged to try new things, even if they don’t work. You will need a curious and enquiring mind with a passion for tech, a knack for problem solving and the tenacity to challenge the status quo. You will be an active learner with a mix of legal and tech knowledge and will not get frustrated when things don’t work out. You will be as comfortable with selling ideas to people as you are crunching data and thinking logically to find answers.
