We have a great opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a full-time, permanent position, usually based out of our Bristol office, although we are happy to consider some home working on occasion for this position too, but at present due to the UK Government guidelines, this position will be working remotely.

The role

The main purpose of this role is to assist in the maintenance of the firm's accounting records, financial controls and the provision of financial analysis, reports and insights.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, associated variance reports to budget holders for the UK and where appropriate, take primary responsibility for certain cost centres
  • Support the annual audit of the financial accounts including liaising with external auditors
  • Prepare monthly financial accounts; including journal postings, accruals, prepayments and monthly cash flow analysis for our international offices where UK finance has the lead
  • Analyse and report on key performance areas in Business Services functions
  • Research and fact find on payroll and tax related queries
  • Back up for the preparation of VAT and other tax returns for the firm and it's "subsidiary" companies
  • Support the preparation and completion of the annual overhead budgets from UK Business Service budget holders and where applicable, International offices
  • Contribute to improvements in key processes within the financial accounting remit where necessary to deliver efficiencies and improved accuracy
  • Take an active role in the transition from the firm's current Practice Management System to a new platform
  • Assist with the development of a consistent GL accounting structure across the UK and international offices, including local statutory reporting requirements. This will include cleansing the current GL structure ahead of the transition to the new PMS and develop a process for future changes/amendments with ongoing responsibility and maintenance
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the PMS system set up/masking e.g. disbursement codes, ledger codes, VAT codes, setting up new entities etc
  • Provide ad-hoc support to projects and other initiatives, as required
  • Actively manage own personal training and development, identifying any suitable development opportunities

You will be

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant who is CIMA/ACCA qualified. You'll need to have experience of change management and ideally come from a professional services environment, but this is not essential for this role. Additionally you'll also demonstrate:

  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work using your own initiative as well as within a team
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Be self-motivated and proactive
  • Work in a collaborative and professional manner, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience using Elite and working internationally is desirable but not essential
