Job Details

Our national Property Dispute Resolution team is one of the largest and most highly rated in the UK.  We're proud of our Legal 500 ranking -  Band 1 in the South West so you can be assured of the quality of the team you're joining.

As a business we're growing, and our national Property Disputes practice are contributing to that through some exciting new client wins.   We now have an opportunity for a lawyer to join the team in Bristol – if you are at the start of your legal career, looking to grow and develop your career within property litigation this could be the ideal opportunity.

What does the team do?

Led by Partners, James Rees and Sasha Hinton, you'll be working with some truly talented lawyers at all levels.  The team advise a broad range of clients on all aspects of commercial property dispute resolution and property management.  We have an enviable client list, made up of landlords and tenants (with national portfolios), developers and investors, ranging from significant public and quasi-public sector bodies to FTSE 250 household names across a range of sectors including retail, leisure, telecoms, energy, central and local government, charities and transport and infrastructure.

You'll see yourself advising our clients on a wide range of substantial contentious property matters, including landlord and tenant (e.g. 1954 Act renewals, dilapidations and break notices), the Electronic Communications Code and general property issues such as adverse possession, easements and title disputes.

The Property Disputes Team works very closely with our transactional Real Estate team so you will have the opportunity to develop strong ties across the practice, as well as access to quality work from our existing high calibre client list.

What does the ideal candidate look like?

Due to the growth in our work, as well as the variety and complexity of what we do, this role needs some previous experience of property litigation either from previous paralegal roles or your training contract.  The team are close-knit and very supportive so you will develop quickly.  Most importantly you will have a genuine enthusiasm for this area of law and the aspiration to deliver a first class service to our clients.

You'll need strong academic ability, a thorough approach to complex legal analysis with swift assimilation of complicated sets of facts.  Your written advice will be fluent and concise and your high level of commerciality will enable you to address the client's overall objectives. Strong interpersonal skills will give you the ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with the different interests of our clients.

As important will be the ability to work with and alongside a range of colleagues, across locations, as some of the work we deal with involves multi-disciplinary teams. This is an exciting time to join this team and the role offers an unrivalled opportunity to learn from the best, to develop a career in a growing specialism, and to be mentored and supervised in a supportive environment.
