We have a great opportunity for someone to join the HR team as an HR Business Partner on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

Ordinarily based out of Bristol or London, the role will involve remote working and some travel between our UK offices, when appropriate. This role could be carried out on a part-time/flexible basis or full-time (35 hours per week).

The team is made up of 35 people, covering human resources, recruitment and people development across all three UK offices. What you'll do

The HR Business Partner works in close partnership with business leaders to ensure the Practice Group defines and implements its strategic people plan and manages its people in a way that meets the current and future needs of the business. They will also lead on several strategic change projects and cyclical projects.

More specific duties include:

  • Working closely with key stakeholders, you will provide strategic and operational HR guidance and support to the Advisory Practice Group across three UK locations. Your focus is on improving the performance of the Practice Group through its people and ensure alignment with OC's overall strategy.
  • In partnership with the Practice Group Head and Operations Director, you will enable the delivery of the Practice Group's people plan. You'll keep progress under review and measure impact in terms of business outcomes.
  • Coaching Partners and Fee-Earners in HR matters and to manage change effectively.
  • Overseeing talent management for your Practice Group, focusing on preparing and retaining talent for future positions and leading on promotion processes.
  • Ensuring diversity and inclusion is a central part of the Practice Group's people plan and that business leaders look at each decision through a D&I lens.
  • Work closely with an Operations Director and Finance Business Partner to make sure your Practice Group is the right size and shape to deliver against annual business targets and budgets. You'll keep this regularly under review and use insight to influence decision making about people, promotions and recruitment throughout the year. You'll advise on organisational design as needed.
  • Support Partners to continually improve employee engagement within the Practice Group and ensure feedback is listened to and acted upon so that our culture remains a competitive advantage.
  • Use data driven insights to drive the people agenda and influence decision making.
  • Use your extensive HR knowledge to bring an external perspective to our HR offering.
  • Lead on complex or sensitive employee relations matters as needed.
  • You'll influence reward decisions in the Practice Group, driving fairness and consistency, and take the lead on annual pay review and bonus nominations.
  • Lead on several strategic HR projects, as well as influence and contribute to change projects across the business, motivating matrix project teams.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the full remit of HR service to your Practice Group by working closely with the HR Adviser and HR Assistant, You'll coach them and build their capability, as well as act as an escalation point as necessary. You'll work closely with your HRBP colleagues to ensure that the HR generalist team delivers excellent service to the business and continuously improves.
  • Work with colleagues in People Development to ensure that capability, and management capability, is being developed.
  • Work with colleagues in recruitment to ensure we attract the best talent and managers have the right recruitment and selection skills for this.

Who we are looking for

You'll be a driven and enthusiastic HRBP, with a background in HR Business Partnering, ideally gained in a professional services environment and have a proven record of managing HR change projects. We're also looking for someone who has demonstrable experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders.

  • Be confident engaging with a client group to help them drive their business forward with pragmatic, business focussed, cost effective advice.
  • Manage multiple tasks at once and will also be able to demonstrate that you work well both as part of a team and independently.
  • Effectively manage projects to time and budget, including motivating a project team to give their best.
  • Be professional and flexible in approach, able to adapt to changing requirements and circumstances.
  • Think strategically, remaining mindful of OC's strategy and considering big picture implications.
  • Forge strong professional working relationships with internal clients.
  • Manage expectations amongst internal clients whilst maintaining credibility and professionalism.
  • Remain impartial.
  • Be a custodian of the OC culture.
