Job Details

There's no more exciting time to be thinking about joining Womble Bond Dickinson than now. We've made no secret of the fact that we're ambitious and our recent move to become a transatlantic firm is just further evidence of that. For our people this makes for a really exciting future, one in which everyone has a role to play in furthering our ambitions whilst enjoying exciting and fulfilling careers. And the dynamic nature of the legal sector is just one challenge that we need to respond to as a business to ensure that our clients get the best possible service from us and our business continues to be sustainable. One of the ways in which we're responding to the market is through continued investment in our Legal Solutions Centre; a team of solicitors, chartered legal executives, paralegals, technologists, management information specialists and legal project managers, capable of providing support to the wider business on a regular and ongoing basis, for high volume projects or secondment opportunities, and providing some services directly to clients.

One of the main roles of this dedicated team is to work on large scale e-disclosure projects and the data that we manage is only increasing in volume and becoming more complex. This means that the team now have an opportunity for a specialist e-discovery Project Manager to join them and continue to build our e-discovery practice in the firm.

What will you be doing?

You will work with our Legal Solutions Centre and the litigation teams across the firm to support the end to end management of the disclosure process from initial data mapping, preservation and extraction, building a defensible disclosure process, to production; and continuing support on the management and use of documents for the production of evidence, trial preparation and document presentation for hearings/trials.

You'll be required to advise how to collect (hardcopy and electronic), process, organise, cull and review data for optimal results, and establish workflows to support efficient document reviews. This may be within our internal e-discovery solution.  Or where we work with external e-discovery providers you'll act as a liaison between the external provider, WBD teams and clients; advising on the options available for various stages of the e-disclosure process; and management of the services provided by the external provider.

You'll be responsible for organising and maintaining the documents and evidence; and advising on best practices for the management/presentation of documents throughout the trial process. There will be multiple projects to co-ordinate at a time across the litigation team so you'll be ensuring effective deployment and prioritisation of resources.

You'll be working with various teams throughout WBD on the day to day operation of projects so you will be able to identify training needs and provide assistance to teams with matters relating to e- disclosure/data management best practices. We're always looking for ways to work more effectively, you'll play a key role in making suggestions to improve document management during the life cycle of litigation proceedings.

So what are we looking for?

While you many already have experience of working in a law firm, what's more important to us is that you are proficient in the use of e-discovery technology and understand the key concepts of the EDRM model. Previous experience of Everlaw and Relativity would also be beneficial to this role. You will need to be able to manage multiple projects in parallel, with a view to resources, deadlines and costs. As mentioned, this very much both an internal and client facing role so you'll need to be able to position e-discovery problems/solutions in a way that everyone involved can understand. You'll work closely with the e-discovery team and other member of the business to build a credible and high performing e-discovery practice. Being a creative thinker with new ideas on how e-discovery technology can be deployed in novel ways would be of real interest.  This role is a platform to grow and shape our e-discovery practice in the future.
