"They are engaged, enthusiastic, and always personable." - Chambers and Partners

We have a rare opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Real Estate team in our Thames Valley (Reading) office, rated Band 1 in Chambers & Partners.

The practice

Our highly experienced Real Estate team provides a comprehensive 'lifecycle' service to clients across a wide range of industry sectors. Our experience in the real estate sector helps us to understand our clients' business challenges, spot opportunities or angles, make connections between clients and help clients remain competitive.

Our team in Reading advises on all aspects of real estate work including substantial investment acquisitions and disposals, portfolio and asset management, complex mixed-use developments, corporate occupier and real estate finance.

Our practice has longstanding relationships with national real estate investors, developers, contractors, investment funds and landlords. We work with impressive clients such as QinetiQ Limited, Lonza AG, The Trade Desk and major clearing banks.

The work

Recent work done by the team includes:

Advising The Trade Desk on a major pre-letting agreement for One Bartholomew Close, a new, high-quality office building in Farringdon London.

Advising Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company on the on-going regeneration of Bordon Garrison, a neighbourhood in Bordon, which is one of Hampshire's largest towns. The former Army Barracks are being redeveloped into a new town with town centre featuring retail, health care centre, cinema, places of worship and supermarket. Our work involves strategic advice relating to the acquisition of the land, procurement and State Aid advice and pre-lets of retail units.

Advising a clearing bank on the provision of £62.5m facility to logistics REIT including the financing of 32 assets.

Advising QinetiQ on various acquisitions and disposals including complex sub-sales and overage arrangements.

The team

The real estate is made up of over 75 lawyers in total including 21 Partners in the UK. In Reading the team is led by Rebecca Tuffs (partner).

Technical skills and experience

We are seeking a candidate with a broad range of experience from a developed practice in this area. Experience within real estate finance, development and investment would be particularly desirable.

Due to the nature of the work and structure of the team we are looking to appoint a Senior Associate in this area, however we are willing to consider candidates with more or less experience.

Your career development

Like all our lawyers, you will benefit from our multi-award winning career development programme. At each stage of your career this provides you with:

  • clear expectations of your role and what it takes to progress high quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure
  • thorough assessment and individual feedback from a range of experienced colleagues
  • robust technical training with early skills based development, increasingly tailored to you
  • reward for your contribution, progression and potential, rather than PQE or tenure

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
