The Head of Navigator is responsible for oversight of the navigator team and products, ensuring necessary support for the service across the business.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Legal content

Responsible for overseeing content and advising the team, including (but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with navigator partner and other stakeholders in FS Reg and FS Funds in establishing and maintaining the evolving legal content (including new products)
  • Delivering regulatory change strategy for key large scale legal developments, including developing such strategy in conjunction with relevant senior lawyers
  • Responsible for resolving risk management issues in conjunction with navigator partner
  • Overseeing the quarterly update process, including any subscriber email content at the end of each quarterly update
  • Offering guidance on sensitive/unusual queries
  • Attending relevant external legal and reg tech conferences/working groups, and subscriber working groups
  • Overseeing development of new content
  • Overseeing counsel relationship drive and devising annual action plan

Marketing and subscriber support

Oversees navigator marketing/support function including (but not limited to):

  • Setting the marketing agenda/comms plan with the navigator partners and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure plan is executed
  • Signing off on marketing materials
  • Overseeing navigator subscriber support function
  • Assisting navigator executive with queries around relationship/terms and conditions
  • Devising and running annual user feedback survey and meeting with key contacts
  • Working with navigator partner to devise a navigator 'value added' agenda (i.e. blog/social media and insights articles) for the team to deliver

People management

Responsible for HR matters within the team including (but not limited to):

  • Direct line management for senior lawyers, executives and secretaries including running the quarterly performance management cycle and managing training needs
  • Escalating matters to HR and/or navigator partner where appropriate
  • Escalating resourcing issues as appropriate to the navigator partner and/or HR and making recruitment decisions

Management

Including (but not limited to):

  • In conjunction with navigator partner, developing strategic operational plans for delivery of business plan and associated financial targets; and assessing the business opportunity of new products and service expansions
  • Reviewing and managing financial performance of the service and team, and reporting to navigator partner and managing director of Solutions
  • Running weekly team meeting/monthly senior team meeting
  • Organising and planning agenda for key stakeholders quarterly meetings
  • Liaising with other teams across the firm to ensure cohesive approach on firm wide issues
  • Representing navigator interests on online services steering group
  • Responsible for ensuring that IT strategy reflects the needs of the navigator business

  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and proofreading
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience in legal tech/innovation/product development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage conflicting priorities and work under extremely tight deadlines
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours on occasion as required

Education & experience

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in managing a team
