Non-Contentious Construction Lawyer
About the role and team
Due to continued success and growth, we are currently looking for a Non-Contentious Construction Lawyer to expand our Legal 500 rated Construction practice, having recently won a large contract helping our client to procure their highways contract for the next 15 years.
The successful candidate will assist with a range of non-contentious construction procurement matters within our specialist sectors and if of interest, also to provide support on contentious matters. The caseload includes advising on large-scale projects and negotiating on all types of construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, ACA forms and bespoke.
The team provides the full range of advice services to our clients, with some examples of recent work including:
- Supporting Lincolnshire County Council on their £762m, 12-year highways contract using the NEC4 suite.
- Delivering a near £2bn planned maintenance procurement for one of the country’s largest housing associations.
- Acting for the British Library in drafting their hard facilities management contract under NEC4 terms.
- Supporting “household name” charities in they key strategic developments, such as of headquarters and high profile visitor centres.
- Setting up joint venture partnerships for new-build housing for values ranging up to the hundreds of millions.
About the candidate
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience (or equivalent), with a strong technical understanding of non-contentious construction law. Candidates will have experience driving projects forward but also be equally able to assist project teams on joint ventures and other types of multi-disciplinary development projects. Experience of working on repairs and maintenance or facilities maintenance contracts would also be desirable, as would be experience in EU Procurement law.
Candidates must be technically gifted with strong drafting skills and equally important they must be commercially aware and have demonstrable business development experience. Strong people management skills are required, with the ideal candidate needing to demonstrate the ability to lead at a senior level, including line management and people development.
