Where you'll work:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a paralegal to join the Real Estate Finance - Security Team. The team act for Registered Providers of affordable housing, as well as lenders, funders, institutional investors and security trustees, on all aspects of property due diligence work required to secure various finance structures.  Due to expansion we are now seeking to hire a paralegal that can provide full Paralegal and Administrative support to the team. We are ranked by The Lawyer as having one of the UK's Top 15 Real Estate practices overall. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Carry out legal research
  • Review initial due diligence information received, including searches results and official copy entries
  • Completing and dealing with applications to Land Registry and FCA
  • Applying for and processing consents applications
  • Filing of deeds, documents, correspondence and other documentation
  • Developing filing and document management systems
  • Scheduling and compiling bibles of documents
  • Checking of schedules and management of documents
  • Preparing and engrossing fixed charges and other documents
  • Obtaining copy documents from various local authorities and other third party search providers
  • Ordering official copy documents
  • Using Land Registry Portal and TM Group (online searches services)
  • Assisting with the administration of file archiving and retrieval service
  • Providing support to the UK Property charging team across all offices
  • Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures
  • Photocopying and scanning
  • Ad hoc administrative duties where required

What you'll need:

The firm operates a paralegal career structure which sets out the competencies we expect of those at this level, and beyond.  In particular, for this role we require:

  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of MS Word and Excel (essential)
  • Experience working with Data Room (essential)
  • Ability to provide documents to agreed timescales (essential)
  • Previous Paralegal experience in Property (desirable)
  • Knowledge of property law gained from either LPC (advanced property elective) or LLB (essential)
  • Previous experience in dealing directly with clients and an appetite to gain more exposure in this area (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical and logical approach
  • A strong team player
  • Ability to use initiative and apply common sense
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • Flexibility and commitment
  • An ability to operate autonomously with minimum supervision – a self-starter
