Job description

We are currently recruiting for an energetic and proactive individual to join us as a Global Security Senior Manager based in our London office.  We are looking for an individual capable of developing an understanding of a complex array of client (fee earner) sensitivities.  The individual needs not only to be a strong team player but also able to take the lead on specific areas of interest.  The post holder needs to develop their credibility with an array of senior stakeholders within the firm, becoming a trusted advisor in as short a timescale as possible.  Perhaps the most important attribute required is the ability to gauge accurately a client's appetite for security support, ensuring that we provide security coverage that is both necessary and proportionate.

Role and responsibilities

Global Security Strategy, Policies and Security Advisor:
The Global Security Senior Manager (GSSM) is responsible for the development and maintenance of a risk-based security strategy for the firm globally, to include risk assessments and associated security policies for the firm covering buildings, personnel and physical asset security. Protecting client information stored in office premises is a critical element of this.  Key examples include threat assessments for local offices, covering physical and information security, and the provision of appropriate security advice in response.

The role requires effective collaboration with all risk functions within the firm globally and must carry credibility with senior Partners up to and including, on occasion, the General Counsel. Specifically, the GSSM must provide input into the global risk management framework and act as an advisor to the Global Head of Risk and the In House Legal team (IHL) on security and confidentiality related matters.  The role is also expected to undertake security due diligence on 3rd party suppliers, reviewing the adequacy of their physical security.

The GSSM must consider the impact of relevant legislation upon Firm security arrangements ensuring subsequent compliance by devising and implementing appropriate policy, procedure and practice, in liaison with IHL and General Counsel.

Global – Physical and Personnel Security:
Ensure a consistent standard for physical and personnel security across the global network, through regular office audits, providing advice / input to local security co-ordinators and/or project managers for new offices, setting security system specifications and managing the firm’s travel security programme. Assist in response to security events, incidents or crises which require a security expertise, leadership and contingency planning. This includes: monitoring global threat levels and incidents, and considering their potential impact on the firm; responding and providing assistance in instances of fraud which have the potential to impact the firm's operation or reputation; liaison with security services and national / international law enforcement agencies. It also requires acting as an adviser to the partner community with regard to client-related business which requires a relevant security knowledge and experience.

Information Security:
The role demands a close working relationship with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and his team, supporting their efforts to ensure that the Firm's information security strategy meets our obligations to clients and is aligned to the global threat. This will require proactive tracking of threat levels and occasional liaison with the relevant International or National bodies.  This aspect of the role might include a combination of technical research, intelligence analysis and formal reporting to the Head of Risk. The GSSM must also provide their threat expertise to help respond to any cyber incident faced by the firm in support of the CISO and his team, as well as contributing to relevant Information Security forums.

London Operational Security:
Oversight of physical security for One Bishops Square through the development of policies and procedures in consultation with IHL and Head of Risk. Management of the London Manned Guarding contract and the Site Security Manager’s implementation / maintenance of security policy / procedures. Included are "specialist" security services e.g.: VIP escort, close surveillance, and investigations on premises. Responsible for Emergency Procedures relating to security in London and must act as security advisor to Gold Team for crisis management.
