IT Projects & Programmes Graduate Scheme

We have a fantastic opportunity for graduates of any discipline to embark on a career in Business Analysis, Project Management Office (PMO) and Project/Programme Management. Our two year graduate scheme will give the successful candidate hands-on experience of working within the IT Department of a thriving, award-winning international legal practice.

About Us

Osborne Clarke is an international legal practice with over 270 Partners and more than 900 talented lawyers in 25 locations. Our sector-based approach enables us to help our clients tackle the issues they are facing today, and prepare for the ones that they will face tomorrow. We love working closely with our clients on new deals, products and solutions which will transform their businesses, markets and even sectors. And our unique approachable culture is not an added extra, it’s fundamental to our success. As a firm we are only as good as our people – so we strive for diversity and invest in wellbeing. We aim to create an environment that motivates everyone to be the best they can be while enjoying what they do. Most importantly, we want you to be you.

Our Scheme

Our two-year graduate scheme will enable you to complete four six-month rotations, and you can expect to spend time in each of the three teams in our IT Projects and Programmes function. This will enable you to develop your skills and gain excellent experience across a broad range of projects. The final six months will be spent in the team of your choice, giving you the opportunity to really hone your skills and specialise in one area.

IT Business Analysis

The IT Business Analyst team enables change in the organisation by recommending solutions that deliver value to both the business as a whole, and our people. We work with colleagues across the firm to define their needs and articulate their problems in order to understand which are the best investments in our technology and processes to pursue. This includes:

  • Exploring new ideas about the way we work and the technology available
  • Researching 3rd party vendors and the products they offer, mapping processes and identifying efficiencies within them
  • Eliciting business and technical requirements
  • Building and shaping business cases for change

IT PMO

A PMO is a Project or Programme Management Office. It defines, documents and governs the standard processes, policies and methods of project delivery and ensures that projects and programmes are managed in a repeatable, standard way.

PMO has a range of functions which typically include:-

  • Governance – developing standards and processes, checking adherence to process, developing project and program structures and ensuring accountability at all levels
  • Data gathering and reporting - project progress, financials, project/portfolio dashboards and providing information as the single source of truth and often managed via a Project Management Tool
  • Delivery Support - facilitates sharing of knowledge, stops project teams from reinventing the wheel or going "off piste". This involves being the central point for training, lessons learned, templates and best practice

IT Project Management

The IT project management team is the glue that holds each project together. Our role is to lead and co-ordinate the delivery of IT projects through managing and providing guidance to the project team. This includes:

  • Managing stakeholders
  • Managing risks and issues
  • Planning the necessary tasks
  • Managing the budget, whilst ensuring that we implement a quality product.

We work with technical colleagues in IT as well as our people across the business. We also ensure that our people are trained to use any new systems and ready to absorb change through effective communications and engagement. We manage a variety of projects from software upgrades, to brand new system implementations, as well as hardware and infrastructure projects that involve office openings / moves and implementing services such as telephony or printers and improvements to our infrastructure.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for effective communicators who can solve problems creatively, build effective relationships and demonstrate real initiative. The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in learning about, and building a career in, the areas that make up our IT Projects and Programmes team.

Candidates should have achieved, or are expecting to achieve, a 2:1 in any discipline. We take applicants' results in each of their degree modules into account and screen applications in favour of those with stronger 'A' level grades. We encourage candidates to opt into completing the Rare Contextual System data to allow us to further understand the context in which your experiences have been gained.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
