Job Details
Our Commercial and Insurance Recoveries team specialises in pursuing many types of recovery and contribution claims and we're proud of the long-term relationships we have with many of our clients. The team are particularly respected for their work on behalf of corporates, utilities, telecoms providers and insurance companies. They pursue recoveries arising out a wide range of insured and uninsured events, including damage to property, claims for personal injury, professional negligence claims, and the costs of dealing with regulatory infringement.
The team now have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join them based out of our Bristol office.
What will you be doing?
This is a great opportunity to join an exciting team where you'll play an integral part in the Commercial & Insurance Recoveries Team and the work that we do on behalf of large corporates and major insurance companies. The work is fast paced and challenging but the team are collaborative and enjoy what they do, which makes for a positive working environment. You'll help to advise insureds on a daily basis as to the best way to respond to and resolve claims made against them. This is a client-facing role and you'll be working with excel spreadsheets to provide management information for the insurer when required. In addition, you'll assist lawyers in the team with a variety of fee-earning tasks including document management, disclosure exercises, compiling bundles, preparing costs estimates and schedules, legal research, drafting correspondence and preparing instructions to experts and counsel. As you gain experience you will also be given the opportunity to handle your own caseload of recovery claims.
So what are we looking for?
Ideally you will have some legal education and a keen interest in insurance law. Previous experience of working in a commercial law firm would be helpful but is by no means essential. What's more important to us is that you're able to provide the highest level of customer/client experience in a fast paced environment, take ownership and use your initiative. This is busy team so you'll need to demonstrate excellent time management and self-motivation with proven forward planning skills whilst with the ability to prioritise. You must also have experience of using IT software such as Microsoft Excel Word and have an interest in using our technologies to continue to improve efficiencies in the team.
